The Holy Spirit @ work....

    I have been thinking a lot about what transpired a few days ago re my post on the beheading. As the religious/spiritual debate continues,I've come to realize that words are very powerful. What I had intended by my post of earlier this week was my stunned disbelief of this murder.The resulting responses were varied. There has been progress made by way of tolerance for others' beliefs. I as a Catholic know what I fervently believe to be true. Others,who are of another Christian denomination may not be fully alligned with my beliefs and vice/versa. Then there are others who are of a more spiritual nature and aren't alligned with my beliefs at all. When Rafiki and I were posting,what really spoke to me was her comment of "If we could talk face to face ...." That's when I had a ah ha moment. The anonimity of the internet provides us the ability to be enboldened in our posts. Because we can't see the reaction of others'. I for one, will try in the future to respond as though I were speaking face ot face with another(s). Jeanne

    Well spoken, Jeanne...I can't believe I actually cried when I read your response...seriously-- I was already welled up but that did it! That's what made me decide to add to it...and it's true, we don't know each other, or see each other, so it may not always be clear of the intent...but I've read posts on both of you and while views may be different, there is a sweetness about both of you...as well as others here.

    I am reminded to to respond in a like manner, as if I were speaking face to face!
    I think it worked out, the intent for both of you...abuse is awful, and unfathomable to most of us (even those of us who've seen that evil).

    I have been thinking about you a lot. I have regretted the blunt tone of my response to you many times. More than that, I have been struck by the sad fact that I had been willing to abandon our quest for understanding. Thank you, so very much, for being the better woman and for reaching out to me even though I was turning away. You taught me a powerful lesson which I will not forget.

  6. Good, I'm glad you loved them too.... isn't she such an amazing, beautiful, insightful being?

    I could give you the site (or anyone else,) interested... there are plenty of them... the one i used this morning, has about 25 or so, of her quotes...

    The one I'd wanted to add, has been said by her on Oprah, before, it's one of Oprah's favorites, as well as my mothers...

    It's a great one for all of us, because, it assures us that our past, be it whatever it may have been... is ok... it was 'what we knew'..

    I can only botch it up, and tell you that, it is something to the effect of

    When we knew better, we did" (that's not all of it, at all,) but, my mother loves that quote by her, it has very deep 'roots' with my mother... we all have certain things, words, quotes, etc, even song lyrics (I have lots of those too!) that really, truly, deeply, and profoundly strike a chord with us, for reasons only we know, sometimes...

    Anyhow, made it to church with hubby this AM, 5 minutes late, (LOL) but, made it, and now we're off to 'have a day' together, just browsing around town some, and picking up a few things
