I am newly diagnosed......dealing with this disease for about 8 months. Last week I had a major flare. Incredible pain. Part of that was a stiffness under my chin with muscle spasms that cramped terribly! Strange. The spasms went all the way to the collar bone area. Now that the flare is subsiding, it actually hurts to touch the skin in the neck area! When I yawn, the muscles tighten again and there is much pain. Strangely enough, if I gently massage the area, it subsides, but only for a short time. I was beginning to get really concerned about having so much pain in the neck, ears, throat. Ok.....anyone out there who can relate to this? Again, this fibro stuff is incredibly hard to live with. But you all know that....

    Thanks, friends....

    hi
every so often I get that same exact feeling sneezing tends to feel the same as the yawn and couffing suck (cant spell) when that part of the pain calms down there is a constant pressure under the chin almost like before your going to vommit how your toung kind of feels like its lifting up. That is the only part that never goes away with my throat. Does that sound the same?

Hi Dee, I have had throat problems for years;went to an ear, nose, and throat specialist because of my throat mainly. They did surgery on my nose for deviated septum. My nose surgery was in 1997. Since that time I had a thyroid complete screening done and the doc said I had a very small benign cyst on my right side. My throat also swells but I am very sure it is all related to fibro and also TMJ. I am new to this site and I have found everyone extremely nice in here and informative. Thank you for your topic. It is good to know . Breel :)
