I JUST READ THE MESSAGES ABOUT WHERE EVERYONE FROM TENNESSEE LIVES AND NOTICED THAT WE ARE ALL IN THE VICINITY OF COOKEVILLE. WHERE DO YOU ALL GO TO THE DOCTOR IF YOU DON'T MIND MY ASKING? ARE THERE ANY SUPPORT GROUPS AROUND HERE FOR US?
I DON'T KNOW ANYONE HERE IN LIVINGSTON THAT I CAN TALK WITH ABOUT THIS. MY FRIENDS TRY TO UNDERSTAND BUT DON'T REALLY.
I TOO HAVE A SWIMMING POOL BUT WE HAVE CLOSED IT FOR THE WINTER AND DRIVING TO COOKEVILLE TWO OR THREE TIMES A WEEK IS PRETTY DIFFICULT FOR ME TO DO ON MY OWN MOST OF THE TIME. I WOULD LOVE TO HEAR FROM EACH OF YOU.

I am sorry we have this illness, but you are right I don't think people understand this unless they are going through it.

I don't know of any support groups nearby. I think there is one in Lebanon, but that is too far for me.

My primary care doctor is in Dowelltown, thats about 10-15 minutes away from me. He is very understanding and willing to try to help. He was not familiar with fibromayalgia patients, but has been willing to research and learn.

The primary care doctor sent me to a physiatrist (a physical medicine specialist) because I have chronic pain from degenerative discs, arthritis spurs and a vertebrae that is out of place.

The physiatrist is in Lebanon, and he ultimately also diagnosed me with fibromyalgia when the pain monsters invaded all parts of my body.

I have seen a neurologist in Cookeville a few times, but if I go to a neurologist again, I may shop around. He is probably very competent, but no personality or bedside manner.

Stinker, did you enjoy the water when it was warm enough? It helped me a lot.

I don't think we can exchange email addresses on the board or phone numbers but surely we could work something out, pick a place to meet or something and exchange info there if we decide to.

Do you all have other health issues besides fibro? It seems my list is getting longer and longer. But sometimes when I try to think of them, I am so foggy it takes me a while. That makes me feel stupid.

I THINK you can exchange e-mails if you go through the moderator and have them send your e-mail to the person you want to reach. At least you USED to be able to do this.
I am in Sparta, and YEARS ago with a friend here had a HEAL (for MCS) chapter for the state of TN. but for various reasons it went nowhere, as you can imagine. There are no other appropriate support groups in the area.

I would love to get to know you all. MAYBE WE COULD ALL SYNCHRONIZE our bodies to be able to meet one day in Cookeville ans start our own "support group". Anyone have any ideas on where we could meet? I would be fine with just about anywhere. We could meet at a resturant(I meet my friend at Burger King so my girls can play while we chat, but I would hope to not have to bring them.

I go to see Dr. Chet Gentry in Sparta and he is a very kind man. He really takes his time with me, he doesn't know much about FMS/CFIDS but he is open to learning. I have started treatment at the FFC in Atlanta and they say they are going to open in Nashville next year. Also there is supposed to be a fibro clinic in Knoxville.

I don't have anyone to talk to either, NO-ONE understands, but at least my friends ask me how I am doing.

    Hugs to you all,
    Dani

Thanks for the information about the possible support group
    in Cookeville.

I'm still up for trying to meet with you all. Weekends are best for me because I am really exhausted after work through the day.

If this Saturday won't work how about the next Saturday?

I wonder if the support group in Cookeville meets monthly or what?

If you get any info please pass that along.

I'm looking forward to meeting you.

I called the hospital and they said that there used to be a support group who met regularly at an room at the hospital but that the woman in charge had not showed up for about 6 months now.

She does not know if the group is meeting elsewhere or not.

She did give me the phone number of someome in Cookeville who has fibromyalgia and is interested in starting a group.

That sounds great to me. Sorry I haven't responded sooner but I've been to the eye doctor today. Let me know where and when as soon as you know and if I can do anything to help get it going.

The woman I have been talking to(her name is Kathleen) is going to arrange it with the hospital. They have a room there we can use to meet. We are thinking Saturday morning would be a good time if it is available.

Thanks for the offer to help. If I don't hear back from Kathleen soon, I'll call the hospital myself.

I hope your appointment went well.

My eye appointment went well. Thanks for remembering. I can see better than I have in over a year thank goodness. Wednesday is my appointment with the rheumy. Hope that is the last one for a while because riding to Nashville just about does me in. Let my know about what you find out.
