    HI PVLADY!!!!!!

VICTORIA AND DOXYGIRL SUGGESTED THAT I TALK WITH YOU. CAN YOU TELL ME ANYTHING ABOUT THE NEW DRUG BUPRENORPHINE? I JUST STARTED SEEING A NEW DOCTOR AND HE TALKED WITH ME ABOUT USING THIS IN THE FUTURE. ARE THERE ANY SIDE EFFCTS, DOES IT CHANGE THE WAY YOU FEEL, HELP YOUR PAIN ETC...?

IT SURELY WOULD BE SOMETHING I WOULD DO IF IT WORKS TO RID THE PAIN.

    THANKS SO MUCH,
    KAYEBEE

I like taking Buprenorphine. I was previously on MS Contin and could not handle the side effects.

"Bup" is much less hard on your system and does reduce pain - my doctor says they don't really know how it works, but it does.

Are you currently on opiates and want to get off them?

I take 12 mg of "Bup" - 4 mg three times a day dissolved under my tongue. The only other pain med I use is regular Tylenol.

I am active now and leave the house each day at 7:30 am and return around the same time in the evening.

The other name for this drug is Subutex. Most of the time it is used to help one get off opiates without withdrawals, then you continue taking it because it controls pain.

You asked if it changed the way I feel - well I feel good. I am happy and not in pain. I am getting to be like my old self of years ago. It does cause "mild" constipation, but nothing like what happens with MS Contin and other opiates.

I still have fibro but I do not suffer. My worst pain level since being on Subutex is a "2". Like I said, I then take a Tylenol.

I am not sure how everyone else reacts with the drug but I am also told is is very easy to "taper off" of if you want to stop it.

Did you see my response? I am interested in talking to anyone about this drug. I don't know any other doctor who is using it.

My pain specialist has several fibro patients on it. I am doing quite well with it. I sure could not tolerate the heavy duty "long acting" morphine meds.

This is a new doctor my first visit. We talked about this med. and he gave me a childs dose under my tounge and my heart raced so bad and I was so hyper for the rest of the day. I don't know if my prozac had an added effect or not.
Do you experience any of these side effects?

Maybe in the future I will be able to tolerated it better. I currently take loratab, the ocy. etc. is just too strong for my. My system is so sensitive!!! How about yours? I did research on the drug when I got home and see that it is mainly used for getting off narcotics. Google or Jeeves I can't remember which, but you could also find a list of the doctor's that are licensed to prescribe.

May I ask what state you live in? I am in Alabama (Birminhgam).

Sorry it took so long to get back to you!!!
