I was treated for the low platelets on Wednesday. I've had this (diagnosed) for 20 years. Taking out the spleen is only a 50/50 chance that it will work and if it doesn't, then you still have ITP with no spleen which is harder to treat. And, you are more apt to catch infections, etc.

I am not showing any symptoms bruisiing, pin dots, etc. and I live within 10 minutes of the hospital (in an emergency). So I will just ride this out and hope the treatment brings the platelets back up (I usually don't have any symptoms or problems if they are 50,000+).

Did you ever think this (ITP) and Fibro are first cousins?

    Peace,
