Yes, today is National Doughnut Day. Read below about when they were created and maybe enjoy one yourself today to "celebrate."

How long will Donut Day last? The hole day?

When I was a kid that had a donut machine at the dime store. You could
    get fresh, hot, delicious donuts!

And there was a chain of Mayflower Donut Shops. There motto was:
As you wonder on through life, brother, whatever be your goal,
Keep your eye upon the donut. And not upon the hole.

I have the image of Homer Simpson running around to all the donut shops today celebrating.

I remember when donut shops used to put large donuts on their roof to attract attention. You could see them from way down the road. I miss that part of Americana. Most don't do that now probably due to city codes.

I get veggies every day, so maybe I'll celebrate and get a donut today.

Well, the above is all that's left of my post. This has been a bad time for
posting. Soon as I sat down a crown fell out. Then I read Jam's post
    re: same. What a kawinkydink.

    re: crown.....

I'm in the process of trying to save a tooth so I don't have to get anymore crowns, etc....

The hardest things are getting those teeth and keeping them and then having to get rid of them.....
