For the past two nights I have taken this for sleep. Does it take time for this to work? What dosage are you on?

    Thanks,

It can take a few hours to kick in but it should work the first night. It doesn't require a build up in your system if that's what you're asking.

I've found that the later I take it the faster it kicks in. If I take it around 9:00 then it may take 2 hours.

I take 50mg. That's a pretty low dose. I haven't taken it in a while because I started Neurontin and it puts me to sleep pretty well.

I did notice that I'd have a sort of a hang over in the morning. But, I slept well on it.

    Hope this helps.

was that it worked a little bit the first night and then more as it got into my system.Nothing else worked on me.Trazadone gives me 6 straight hours .After then I wake up but go right back to sleep.I'd say I only wake 3 times total and that's great for me.Linda

and it works better after being in your system a week or so. I dream now and can remember the dreams . It really helps with deep sleep and I have not had anyproblems with it . I have been on it about three years .

I've been on it for almost 2 weeks now. More than one doc told me that it takes about 2-3 weeks to really "kick-in". My sleep has been a bit better already, and I'm hopeful for the future. I'm only on 25mg, but I go see my sleep specialist in a week.

my experience with trazadone was that it wasn't the right medicine for me. it didn't help me sleep at all but on the plus side there weren't any adverse side effects. as with all anti-deppressants it can take up to a month to really work. if it hasn't worked for you in that length of time discuss with your doctor an increase in dosage or another medication.
    i hope this helps.

I have been on it for about 3 yrs. I take it with rest of nite meds. I take it about 10:20 p.m. and I get to bed about 10:40. (night time duties - take snack dishes to kitchen, turn out all lights, got to bathroom, brush teeth, etc.) DH and I talk a few min. and I am asleep. If I didn't have to make so many trips to the bathroom I would sleep longer at a time but I awake at 6:00. I am happy with that.

It didn't take long for it to take effect when I started it.

    Good luck and gentle hugs

I have taken trazadone about a year now, the Rheumy Rx it for me. (50mg) Just recently I am seeing a Pain Management doc, and he added elavil to the mix first 10mg, now he upped it to 25mgs. The traz helped on its own for a while, sleep wasn't bad, but like most of these meds it seems your body gets used to them. The addition of elavil helped but, it seems to be not helping as much.

I was really afraid to take the elavil when he Rx it for me. I am a big chicken to try new meds, but with lack of sleep, pain, stiffness etc I did. I am glad I did!

The trazadone worked right away for me. Everyone is so different, you just have to try things until something works.
Hope you are getting some sleep!

This drug did nothing for me. I took it for sleep and it was like I took nothing. I am having luck with Ambien plus 3 mg of Melatonin at bedtime.

really didn't work well for me. I did notice that I have gained a few pounds though! It also gave me some pressure in my sinus area and a sort of rash on my neck...like a panic attack type, sort of flushed feeling. I have stopped it and have a drs appt next week. For now I am still taking Simply Sleep by tylenol. Works for now.

Hang in there!!! There is something that works for all of us, just have to keep trying!!
