My HMO's mainstay treatment of FMS/insomnia is low dose tricyclic meds. Have tried Flexeril/Nortriptaline/and now Doxepin...all with poor results...i.e. even more insomnia, depression, hangover, irritability, etc. I am told I should not continue very long on Klonopin ie tolerance. What a bind. Has anyone out there been helped by tricyclics?
    Thank you.

Doxepin has helped me a lot both with sleep and depression.I have been taking it for quite a while but in a higher dose. 25-50 mg. I added Imovane ( Zopiclone) after my sleep study about 4 yrs ago. I have since changed to Clonazepam along with the Doxepin.

Perhaps, if your Doc. won't go with Klonopin, he might prescribe a higher dose of a tricyclic.
