    Hi Ladies (& Gents)

I have CFS, some mild fibro and MPS. My questions concern daily problems with me and wondered if anyone else deals with this:

    1. I tend to have a high pulse rate, between upper 80-90 sitting down and about a 100 while standing. Cardiologist isn't too concerned, but I am. Anyone else? I know if I wasn't so deconditioned it would probably be lower.

    2. I also have a balance disorder. Have postional vertigo in which the ENT doctors say there is nothing to do but vestibular exercises and use meclezzine when I have dizziness and nausea. I'm OK sitting, but standing I feel off-balanced and spacy. Anyone else with this?

I'm just wondering if our very-sensitive bodies and ANS system have anything to do with these problems. Also, anyone find any good natural remedies for these disorders.

After reading another post earlier--I have mitral valve regurge as well. I wonder if that has an effect on pulse and dizziness?

I was checked in April for my heart since heart disease is in my family.
I went through the stress test and other tests and wore the heart holter for 24 hours to see what was going on.
My heart Dr. said I have very high blood pressure but the racing heart beats don't seem to worry him.

I have the worse high pulse rate when trying to sleep and the Dr. said this may be anxiety.
Sometimes it feels like my heart is trying to jump out of my chest. I also can become dizzy and off balance for no apparent reason.

My grandmother, mother, and two brothers have died from heart related disease so you'd think I have good reason to believe I'm in some trouble.

I am on blood pressure meds. but that's all.

I hope you can figure out whats wrong.
My Dr. didn't understand the FM angle at all. It seems to me that the high pulse rate has FM & CFS ties. After going to a heart specialist I thought I would have a definitive answer but I guess not.

I have a high resting pulse rate...around 99-106 but I have low blood pressure. I also have a balance disorder. I have to use a cane for it. I get the spacyness too. I also have white matter lesions seen on MRI's in my brain that may be caused by small strokes. I have so many things going on that they have never commented specifically about these things...everything is just chalked up to fibro, cfs, including central nervous system disorder. Will we ever just get a straight answer?

I am sorry for all of us.

    Hi Tania,
Both your symptoms are common with CFS/FM and are usually considered autonomic dysfuntions. Neurally Mediated Hypotension involved disturbances in the autonomic regulation of blood pressure and pulse. There is often a drop when standing or standing motionless often accompanied by dizzyness, visual changes, weakness etc. This can be a delayed reaction as well.

POTS - Postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome can also occur with excessive rapidity in heart action.

You might try searching these here or on the Internet. An excelent resource is the Journal OF Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, Volume 11, Number 1,2003. It has been available on Amazon or from the publisher Haworth Press. IT includes the ME/CFS Clinical Working Case Definition, Diagnositc and Treatment Protocols.

Hello , I am a 14 year surviver of CFS and Fibro. I have all of the symptoms you have described. My pulse goes up suddenly and without any reason for it. I feel as if my insides are racing. I have the dizziness and nausea and
the off balance when standing. I feel better with it lieing down but many times feel as if my body is heavy and leaning to one side or the other. This has been going on ever since I first got sick. I am so sorry for I have tried to describe this to the people who are around me and they can't understand. I am sorry for your problems yet it helps me to know that I am not alone in these symptoms. Acupuncture has done wonders for this for me. It is not a quick fix but will help the dizziness , nausea, and off balance right away. Acupuncture over time allows the body to heal itself but the process for the healing takes a long time. The problems you are speaking of can be helped right
away. I am also using Co Q 10--100 mg and Ginkgo Biloba. Both have helped with energy and the foggy head feeling. Helping with the energy helps with the off balance and dizziness. I hope this will help you . My thoughts are with you.
