A couple of years ago for some reason I started having this unconscious tounge action against the back of my lower front teeth. Without thinking about it and wanting to do this...my tongue rubs up hard against the back of the lower front teeth as if to feel the plaque back there.

I have been trying to stop this for two years and can't. I do it so much the tip of my tongue is very sore all the time and even slightly red with inflamation. When I sleep it stops.

Is this some psychological abnormality? Can it be stopped with therapy? Or is it some brain or nervous system type of problem?

    You do this too?

At least it's a little reassuring to know that someone else does this too.

At least the toungue tic isn't having it stick out of our mouths at inappropriate times through out the day...huh?
