I've got wonderful news!! Jim (Al's son) came to take me to the hospital and Pam (Al's daughter) called from Pitts. and told him that Al's Dr's said he didn't need TIPS Procedure now and maybe never, and that he is responding very well to the meds., they put him on. They said he is responding so well that he can come home today, and that his condition has stabilized. He looked so bad when we left him ,that Jim and I thought he wouldn't pull though this ordeal ! That is what prayer does !

The Cumberland DR wanted to do TIPS and we kept dragging our feet! Didn't know why we were doing it but just felt not to have the surgery.
They had 5 Liver specialist (in Pitts.) looking at Al and they all said no TIPS Procedure. They changed all of his meds. and he also had an infection in his side, where they had drained all the fluid from him.

I can't tell you how happy I am !! I thank God for it all. We had people praying and prayer chains, all over ! I can't thank you all enough for your devotion and prayers.

    Hugs Shirley

Thanks susi-di and sisland. Al is home now and had his 1st dinner at home this PM. He is on a lot of meds. but he looks real well. He's very weak from all the work done on him but he looks beautiful to me!!! LOL I was so happy when we were bringing him home. It was along drive from Pitts. and very tiring for him. Jim my stepson was sooo helpful and was so very kind to us both. I am truely blessed b/c all his children and mine pulled together to make things happen for Al. I thank God for it all!!
Please keep praying that he has a full recovery.
They have no idea what may have caused it. He don't drink at all and never had more than a beer or glass of wine, over the years.

Last night Al spent his 1st night at home. He is sooooo happy to be home.He is on lots of meds. but that is nothing compared to, the surgery that they wanted to do in Cumberland hospital. They said that surgery changes your life forever. The difference in the Pitts. specialist and the Dr's in the small Cumberland hospital is like night and day. I'm so glad that God let us know that was not the thing to do. He may have never lived though it. As long as the meds. are working,he doesn't need to have that done. I thank God for seeing us though the hard times.
