I am sharing this information because some have asked what the infectious disease specialist (Dr. Chia) does. I won't see him until early January but in the meantime he has asked I have the following lab tests:

    C Pneumonia IgG/M/A
Coxsackie B Virus Antibodies, B Ab by Neutralization @ARUP
    Creatine Kinase, Total Serum
    C-Reactive Protein, Quant.Inflammation
Echovirus Antibodies Ab by Neutralization @ ARUP
    IgG, Subclasses (1-4)
    Immunoflobulin A, Qn, Serum
    Cytomegalovirus (CMU) Ab, IgG
    Cytomegalovirus (CMV) Ab, IgM

I have already had the test for Epstein Barr that shows a titer of over 3,500, apparently indicated as a old virus.

In the meantime, I also saw Dr. Holtorf last week, and was started on Bio Identical Hormone cream and Thyroid T4/T3 (W) 0.5 gr. once a day and Corvalen (it contains is a large dose of Ribose which is supposed to help Fibro). I also received a shot of Glutathione and B-12.

I was given two video taped lectures by Dr. Holtorf on Fibromyalgia/CFS and Bio Identical Hormones. They are very interesting.

At Dr. Holtorfs they really did take 22 tubes of blood. (I wanted to get it over with in one appt. which took three sticks.) They kind of recommended I not try to get them all at once and now I know why. My veins kept closing off.

I don't have the tests they ran, but I am determined to find out what is wrong and try to get help if possible.

I will continue to let you know what happens. I have suffered with this disease for so many years - I have hopes of getting better.

I went to Dr. Chia several years ago but don't remember exactly what I was tested for. I'm going to ask for my records. Did it take that long to get an appointment with him? I remember it took a couple months with me.

Did they test your thyroid and hormones at FFC before giving you the thyroid med and bio-id hormones or is it trial and error?

I've been thinking about going to see either of them because I've developed a yeast infection in my throat along with sinusitus. I was given a perscription of Diflucan and felt so much better while on it. Now it's still not completely gone and I'm starting to go back to normal even though I'm following a strict diet. I really need to find a good primary care doctor who treats CFS/FM. Any ideas?

Anyway, keep me posted on your progress. Good luck! I hope you find answers.
    Take care, Theresa

No they did not test before giving me the hormones and thyroid but I think the doses are low.

Yes, it took about three months for appt with Dr. Chia, but they did say I could call and check on cancellations.

I was told by another doctor that he is so well respected by other doctors in town, the doctors go to him.

I think the hormones are helping me so far. I did not start the thyroid yet. I have gastritis and am just not ready to take the Thyroid med yet.

Yes, Dr. Chia seems to be THE Chronic Fatigue doctor in the South Bay.
My primary care doctor and gastro doctor have both recommended him.
    Take care, Theresa
