Vacation time and frustrated

Today is my first day of vacation. Everything hurts and I am
so tired but cant sleep. Woke up a 5:00 to the sound of rain. Can remember when that would have been a treat. A day off and rain would = sleeping late.
The forecast calls for rain til next Tues.. Trying not to
    think negatively but rain=pain.
People at work were asking where I was going and what I was doing on vacation. I feel alternately sad and angry that the next 10 days will probably be spent just trying to get some rest so that I can go back to work and have some energy
for the first week or so until my next vac. in 5 or 6 months.
Even my 2 close friends at work dont really understand why I just cant "go ahead and do something." They tell me "you can sleep all the next day". I gave up trying to explain how hard it is to make plans because I never know how lousy
I am going to feel from day to day. I think because I go to
work every day they really cant grasp how physically miserable I am.
The 3 of us went shopping and to dinner after work Monday. Previously I have bowed out of going more times than I can count. Well, I had a great time but hurt so much that night that I couldnt even lay down for more than 20 min. at a time.
Needless to say the rest of this week was torture. Now its raining and I am in pain in places I wasnt before.
Just needed to vent to people who understand.
Money isnt everything but if I didnt have to work at least when a 'good' day came along I could use it to have some fun or get something done instead of using it up at work.
    ARGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH.
Thanks for being out there all........Pammy

I know that rainy weather can spell pain for us, but you do not say whether your pain is being adequately addressed. Constant pain adds to fatigue and being constantly fatigued from lack of quality sleep adds to pain. It's a vicious cycle.

If you do not have a good doc presently who is knowledgeable in our illnesses and who is treating your sleep and pain problems, find a good doc who will help you. A good pain specialist may be the place to start.

Take it from someone who worked myself into the ground thinking, "If I could just take a couple of weeks off and get some sleep, I would be OK." Using vacation to try to catch up doesn't work. You need help or one of these days, like me, you simply will not be able to get out of bed and go to work another day.

    Love, Mikie

    Pammy,
I understand all too completely. People think that because you work and hold down a job that you can't possibly hurt as much as you do.............I am learning not to even mention at work that I hurt because that opens the door for all my co-workers to list their complaints - along with then describing what they will be doing after work. I just hope I can get through the day so that I can go home.

When I do take vacation, I always go to a sunny location - preferably Caribbean! Bc I know I always feel better there...

Can you get yourself to a tanning bed perhaps? Lather up with suntan lotion, but at least enjoy the feeling of the heat and pretend you are somewhere warm and tropical. It might help with your mood. Might be crazy, but worth a shot.

I cancel plans with friends ALL the time. It just happens. When I do feel well, I make the most of it.
