Warning re: pain patch and heating pad or blankets

    Just wanted to tell you all that last week in the local paper here there was an article about a gal from Wenatchee Wash who had used a fentanol (sp?) patch and had applied heat to it and it caused the med to get into her system too quickly and she died.

    I see some of these articles on the heated mattress pads and I just wanted to mention it............Be careful!!!

    for the pain patch it gives a warning not to use or apply heating pads or electric blankets or anything that could "heat up" the patch. It also says that if you should run a fever of 102 or more you need to contact the doctor because the heat from the fever could do the same thing.
