I live in Texas and we are starting to have the cooler weather fronts come in. It's really causing me a lot of pain this year. (The other years were probably bad as well but now is now.) Sometimes I get afraid it's just going to get worse each year. I try and remind myself FMS is not progressive but sjogren's and cfs are I guess, plus with aging and all that. Don't mean to sound negative. Just hurting today and the last couple weeks and it's causing me to feel depressed and I really hate that. Goes back to just wanting to be normal, whatever that is. I should be grateful and I am, but *sigh* venting a bit may help. It's amazing how bad it is. Is anyone else going through this?

We live in Oregon, and our monsoon season is just beginning. I have been experiencing a lot more pain lately myself. I spent the summer soaking up the unusual dry heat, and actually managed to do a few things. A couple days, I even felt good enough that I could have taken my mare out, but I no longer ride alone and there is no one local to ride with. It's really a shame, because we bought this place for the miles of trails out back. My husband is getting to the point where he is bothered by the cold & damp too, so we are getting ready to list the property & move to Nevada. We might still be cold, but at least it is dry. I think everyone that I have talked to with these problems is affected by changes in the weather. Oh well, after winter comes the spring. Hope you're feeling better soon.

Where in Oregon do you live? Is it north? I live in the bay area in California and it is getting colder here too. The weather changes go from one day it is hot to the next day it is cloudy and cool. Today it was windy and partly cloudy and getting cooler.
I have a horse too and haven't ridden her since last December. I have had Fibro since March. I, too, am afraid to ride alone. I even take the phone outside with me when I do any work. My horse is fine, but there is a 3 yr. old arab here with her who is scared of everything. Runs into me half the time!
My partner and I have talked about moving to Oregon. I have been looking at horse property up there and also here in Napa/Sonoma valley. We are renting this place here now. It is one acre.
My fibro has been really the worst this past month. I had wisdom teeth surgery Sept. 3rd and I have not been the same since. I was feeling pretty ok before the surgery, but after, I am in tons of pain. The weather is just one thing making it worse. I am going to file for permanent disability. I'm on state right now and the doctors I've seen keep putting me back to work! I made two appts. to see new Rheumies, but no one will see any new patients before December!! I have to get some doctor to sign my disability form. I think I will ask my chiropractor and see if that'll suffice.
    Stay warm you guys!

Hi you all, I can relate to all of it. I am in Pennsylvania and here the weather is cold and damp and rainy, before the snow comes, of course. The past two weeks was awful, it was cold one day and hot the next, now all it is is raining and cold and damp! Each day I get worse and more achey. Yesterday I had a doctors appt down in MD which is a 4 hr trip each way and today all I did was sleep in bed till 7pm. Now I probably won't sleep tonight. I hate it so much!! And yes, it is so depressing and no one really understands. Thank god, my husband does. He sees me everyday all day since he is retired and he is wonderful to me. But, others don't understand. And it is hard to when you don't have it. Hope you all keep warm. We go down south to FL in the winter now for me. I am really good down there in the winter because the humidity isn't bad then. I can't imagine staying here all winter anymore. 2 yrs ago before we did this, I got so depressed it was awful and I thought all kinds of things, you know what I mean. This is longer than I wanted, but so sorry. Take care

    Hello Everyone:
Oh how I can relate as well. Although I reside in Southern CA, the weather has been affeccting me some terrible too. In the morning I can barely get out of bed, and lately I've been hurting so bad all over, & my kness really hurt too the point that it's now affecting my whole leg, spasms are more fregquent and I noticed it's hurting to even walk. Also my whole rigth side of my body has been numb. My depression has increased tremendously. I do have an appt on Monday to see a NEW pain Specialist. I tell you I'm at the end of my rope with doctors as a whole. The past week has been very "stressful" for me & I'm so overwhelmed by my health & it doesn't seem like things are improving for the better. Hopefully things will be "brighter" I hope...
May everyone Have A Nice Weekend!

Yes, I sure know what you mean!! It is gettng colder here in N.Y. and we are in the process of getting flower beds (decorations) taken in etc. I can`t stand it out doors too long an then I suffer the next day. We also go to Florida in the fall.We live in Frostproof down there,we go the last week of Oct.The trip is getting harder every year even though we take our time and take a foam mattress topper for my bed. The golden years are not so very golden I`m afraid. I thank the Lord for a understanding and helpful husband.Where do you stay down there? Hope you have a good trip. We have talked of flying but have a little dog who would be totaly traumatized to be separated from us ,so we still drive down. Blessings, a friend

Hey Clueless.......Florida huh?I'm jealous!LOL I'm located in upstate NY.So I'm sure you can agree with me...our weather is crummy about this time of year.I had to turn on the furnace a couple times so far just to take the chill out!!(and thats early....I usually don't need it quite yet~) I'm very sore &achy!!Wishing for some sunshine!! I really feel much better in the summer months.
But I must say,Our fall colors are beautiful!!

Guess I should feel lucky! We only lit one fire so far this season, and that was last week when we got our first rain in over 3 months. It's supposed to get down to 30 tonight, but it is dry, so I should be ok in the morning. We are still getting up to 70 in the daytime. Positively tropical compared to some areas.

Well...a partial solution. One of the first thing those in pain management do when addressing the weather change is suggest that you find a warm water therapeutic pool. We have one in a local hospital. It is still 25 minutes away and I hate to get up even at 9 or 9:30 on cold days but it really does the body good. Just a suggestion for those who have access or who have not tried it in a while.

    Hoping the best.

I live in Nebraska and the weather is getting colder here too. I use to be one who never wore a coat or jacket and now at the first hint of chilly weather I have a sweater on.

Definitely, I hurt worse when there is any weather changes. And I'm not sure there is any perfect place to live. As far as I know there are weather changes everywhere.

Its the same with me. I live in Ohio and felt almost human this summer (notice I said almost) Now that fall is here I hurt alot more again and it is depressing. Just when you feel better , the cold weather takes you right back to pain! Hang in there, we can do it!!

By reading a few messages, I found it very interesting to learn that there seem to be many people who have a tough time dealing with the weather changes - well, I am one of them.
What, however, I find strange is that even people who live in the warmer zones of the continent are experiencing the same problems as somebody who lives way up north in Canada.
Our systems are probably so sensitive and react to everything under the sun, from barometric pressures to chemicals, to pollens, etc. and makes us even more miserable. It will pass, but try to rest as much as you can and try to also support your immunesystem as much as you can. Take care and all the best Lucky

I'm in the greater Houston area. Although I am really
looking forward to the break from the infamous Texas
heat and humidity, teh cool front that is suppose to blow in tomorrrow has me worried that my FMS pains will increase dramatically. I always hurt more from October through March.

HI! I lived most of my life in sunny Georgia, but I moved to Iowa last January. They said last winter was mild!!!!!!! But I can remember walking my dog in 2 feet or more of snow and wearing every coat and sweater I could get on to keep from having a flare. I dread this winter, and it's already started getting cold..Sigh.
All I can say is try to stay as warm as possible. I've had Fibro since I was 4 and my heating pad is my friend. lol
