I have read a lot about bio-identical hormones and I was wondering do you need a prescription for them and where do you get them? I have never heard of them around here.

    Thanks Angel

First -- 'Bio-identical' -- hormones that, while they may be man-made, match the exact chemical structure of human hormones.

Second -- Where to get them -- it depends on what kind...With progesterone, you can get decent creams with USP progesterone at natural health stores and the like. The same for DHEA and pregnenolone. That's OTC.

My thyroid (T3) and cortisol and testosterone are compounded at a pharmacy. I get mine by mail, but a nearby *compounding* pharmacy could do a similar job if I transferred my prescription there.
