Hi over seas pain victims! LOL!

I know we have several UK people who post but are there any other people out there who are from others parts of the world?

I would like to hear what treatments, medications and websites you use in your country!

My friend moved to Spain and is having a hard time finding FMS/CFS support group and even Doctors....

Am Brit. This is the only web site I've been on!! I got it off my friend from her Nursing journal!! She copied it for me.
It put me on the FMS site and when I looked at Specialist information, I found Pelegrino's name thought it looked familiar and checked it out. Found my new home!!
I don't know if WE have any chat rooms like this.
FMS Specialist I'm under is called Dr Freed. He is an allergist and does run his own clinic in Salford but I see him at Wrightington Hospital in Wigan.
    I've volunteered for clinical trials.
I've so far had Asprin based injections under my skin for 12 weeks. I then had them in my muscles. Dr Freed stopped them because my muscles 'crunched' ( they were bloody painful!!) and now I am on trials for Guaifenesin.
I'm just hoping this is the one!!
    LOL Sandra

Hi Jackson from the other UK Smiffy - I've been on the Guai protocol for 6 months, with no medical help or mapping.

Also I take 10mg Amitriptylene/Elavil at night for pain & sleeplessness, although I'd love to give it up to stop the carb cravings, but I have awful nightmares if I don't take it.

I take Co-proximal for intense pain, & paracetomol for moderate pain. I'm hoping to be prescribed Tramadol as Coproximal is being withdrawn here.

I was on slow release Ibuprofen for years, but it worsens my interstitial cystitis, & I believe it may have been the cause.

I also use the lighthearted Brainfog CFS/ME board, & the UK Guai group board. I love this one for the updated medical advice - America seems to be leading the world in FMS/CFS treatment. Best wishes

I live in South Africa and I have pretty much given up on doctors, most of them are very uneducated about FM.
I use clonazepam (Rivotril) at night to sleep (after I gave my doc an article about it from this site)and for pain I take Stopayne or Ponstel Forte.

I was using guai but stopped, no-one here knows about it and I order it from this site which is expensive for me as our currency is 6-7 times weaker than the dollar, plus it wasn't helping me and I just got too frustrated, it might have been a mistake but I don't have the energy now.

I also use Cellfood from Nu-Science and for fatigue I take Chronic Fatigue Boost from Bio-Harmony.
I'd say more than 90% of people in this country doesn't know what FM is.
There are no support groups I know of, and my only support is this board, it is also the only one I visit.
I think the US is the leader in FM treatment and research.
Some of the treatments I read about on this board aren't even available in South Africa, this is where I have learned the most.

Thanks to all of you who responded-

I like to know what the world is doing- we tend to live inside our "Bubble" over here and that isnt healthy, we need to share!

p.s. my friend in Spain is having problems finding face to face support groups, she is using the u.s.a. websites. Doctors over there she said are not very helpful.[This Message was Edited on 09/08/2005]
