    Hi folks

My doctor has given me some Neurontin to try for the pain. I've been reading old posts and doing some research, and it seems that some people take Lyrica.

I was hoping some of you would know what the difference between these drugs? Does anyone know? It looks to me like they do the same thing?

    Thanks in advance :)

    Take care
    Michelle
  2. I was on neurontin, the dr. just gave me a script for Lyrica. He said there were fewer side effects. I haven't filled it yet. I am so leary of new meds. They are very similar as far as I understand.

Neurotin is a second generation anti - seizure while Lyrica is a third generation. Meaning Lyrica is the improved version.

Lyrica is the improved version of Neurotin.

I have been on Lyrica for 4 months now and I am having good results. I am happy with it. It has not cured me but it has made daily life more manageable.

I did take Neurontin before so I can't compare but my MIL did and she likes the Lyrica better.
