What makes you twitch and jerk while sleeping??

    I have been doing this since FM and never asked the question before.

    It's not RLS. I do have that and this is different. It's usually in my upper body. I do it everytime I sleep. From little twitches to whole body jerks.

    Anybody know the answer??

    Some medications can cause it...

    Also deficiencies in minerals (calcium, potassium, magnesium) that are necessary for muscle cells to work properly.

    as mme above says it is caused by meds and the disorder itself-

    our brains have a "short circuit" to make it simple....

    many people jerk themselves awake and it can be break up your sleep cycle- tell your Dr. you might need medication adjustments.

    My Dr said they are "spasms" , I call them scary!
