What to expect at Rheumatologist?

My Dr. has suspected fibro for about a year. She gave me a basic fibro pressure test last week and out of the 15 spots she tested, 14 were tender.

She is sending me to a Rheumatologist for an official work up and dx.

I go in tomorrow and was wondering what the Dr. or the PA will do?

I see an internal med doc for the fibro and a rheumy for my rheumatoid arthritis. He/she will probably do the same pressure point test, examine your joints for swelling and range of motion, take a history and order bloodwork. Some of the symptoms of fibromyalgia mimic lupus, which is autoimmune like rheumatoid arthritis, so he/she will probably order bloodwork to check for that. The blood tests are not absolute, but part of a differential diagnosis, where they basically rule out everything they can.

    Good luck,
