    Good afternoon!

My list, for today, is almost done. I had an early appointment with orthopedic surgeon. He suggested surgery on both my neck and lower back. There have even more changes, in what he consders a short time.

I have chosen to have them done at the same time. I'd rather be miserable and get it over with. I will have a metal plate in my neck with screw type posts. Posts in my back.

My surgery is schedule on 2/15. I will be out of commission for a long period of time. Is there anyone who could post the list for me for at least a month? I would so appreciate it. It doesn't take much time and is important.

Getting ready to leave for a back brace fitting. Will wear it for four months, give or take. Anything to help me feel better in the long run.

I hope you all had a peaceful weekend...

Kim dear, it sounds like you have a challenging time ahead but, given that this will be a great help to you in the long run, the upcoming surgery is a positive step. I'll keep you in my prayers.

I would be happy to post the to-do list thread in your absence.

    Today's To-Do List

Housework: I've already made the bed and cleaned the kitchen so all I need to do house-work wise is swiffer the floors, swipe the washroom and empty the wastebaskets.

Elliptical Machine: I really love this machine, though I can only do a wee bit at a time.

Shopping: My sweetie and I are going to look through furniture stores this afternoon to see if we can find a nice entertainment unit. The one we have at present is old, made from chip-board, and ready to collapse.

OA Meeting: Before the meeting my friend and I usually go for coffee and/or run a few errands. This week, we're planning to stop off at the mall so I can buy myself a reward for my one year anniversary as a non-smoker. I've decided I would like a bottle of Channel No. 5.

Movies: If I'm not too tired when I get home (I expect I will be too tired) I'll watch the rest of the DVD-movie I started to watch yesterday.

    God bless,
    Anne Theresa
p.s. It's a big list, a busy day, but thankfully, I feel pretty good today. knock wood.

Thank you so very much. I was concerned about it!

As usual, you sound like you have had a very productive day, as well as this evening. I really admire you.

Well done with the Channel purchase! You deserve to treat yourself!

I'm very appreciative of your prayers. They do help so very much..

    Take good care..

    I have two appointments:

Tues my farrier comes to trim the horses although with the weather soooooo cold I'm hoping the mare can wait til next time (she has beautiful perfect little feet).

Thurs I have see my sleep specialist for the results of my sleep study.

In between I'm going to try very hard to do a little housecleaning. I got a start today by cleaning off my desk. Would you believe it-there's oak underneath all the papers?

I also dusted one room today, I hope to be able to dust a room each on Wed and Thurs.

Other than that my husband is in Vegas this week so I have to take care of the animals and my meals by myself.

    Wish me luck.

Kim: I'm so sorry you have to have surgery, but I think you are smart to have both done at once and get it over with. I will keep you in my prayers that the surgery is successful and your recovery goes well. I'm so glad Anne Theresa has offered to take over this post for you for awhile.

We are having a snowy morning here in Michigan. I guess I can't complain as our winter has been so mild until a couple of weeks ago. My husband had to drive to Ann Arbor this morning to go to the dental school. He is finally on the final stage of his tooth implant-put the tooth in.

Here's my to-do list for today:

    -pool therapy class
    -empty wastebaskets
    -clean toilet and sink
    -leftovers for dinner

I'm not sure how much I will get done. I felt like staying home today, curling up in a comforter and reading a magazine.

I had a Monster of a day yesterday (a good day) and so I'm simply exhausted today.

Aside from swiffering the floors and taking a swipe at the washroom, I'm going to have a restful day today.

I'll read, watch TV, cuddle my bunny and cat.

Also, a friend gave me a relaxation/meditation c.d. so I may listen to that for a while.

    God bless,
    Anne Theresa

I am 48 today. Where does the time go? My husband sang "happy birthday" to me when I came into the livingroom this morning. He gave me a neck and shoulder messager and a really romantic birthday card. He is taking me out for lunch this afternoon-no cooking today for me!

When I got to work, several secretaries sent me "happy birthday" e-mails. Yesterday a friend I swim with gave me a present and card and I got a couple of cards came in the mail. So I am having a good birthday so far!

My to-do list today is very short. I mainly just want to relax and enjoy the afternoon. I do need to stop and get a prescription filled and maybe do a load of laundry. Other than way, I will try not to do any work.

Hope you have a wonderful and special day...

Kim, I hope your surgery goes well. And if anyone needs me to do the "to do" thread, I can since I'm up long before you guys are.

To do list today is short...need to finish some of my daughter's laundry, I've vacuumed 1 floor today and gathered trash, cleaned litter box, dishes etc....

Tomorrow I need to go grocery shopping and Friday I have my appt to find out how it went at the Endo appt. Hope that goes well.

    Hugs all,

    Good, late, morning!

Happy Birthday, Ellen! You are still a 'kid'! My 50, last June, made me gulp, but all in all, age is just an attitude!
Thank you for your well wishes too!

Nancy B., thank you for offering to pick up the thread! Anne Theresa has said she will do it. Maybe you two might want to take turns. It will be awhile before I am online. Also, I do thank you for you kind thoughts regarding my surgery.

I've been up since 5:30 a.m.! How rare! Lol I had to be at hospital for pre-admission testing, which took several hours. I go back this afternoon for my MRI's. I really need to Swiffer dust when I get home!

I wish you all a good day..

Nancy, if you'd like to post the to-do list in Kim's absence, that would great. Just let me know, then I won't worry about it being covered.

    Elliptical machine

    Clean washroom

    Empty wastebaskets

    Make a phone call

Read - I've started a wonderful new novel.

    Have a good day,

    God bless,

You go ahead and start the threads, it's no problem.

I only mentioned it because when I wake up, there is no thread since I'm 6 hours ahead of East Coast time.

Todays list....hopefully I'll get a shower and shampoo, maybe grocery shopping, but if I choose to stay home, I want to make myself a new pair of jammy pants.

Daughter had an exam last night that she was really worried about so I'm hoping that she wakes up ok at least.

Thanks for the birthday wishes! I had a good birthday. We had a nice lunch at my favorite restaurant. I was naughty and had two pieces of chocolate cake! (afterward I got on the treadmill). My mother-in-law called me yesterday afternoon and invited us over to their house on Saturday for a belated birthday dinner. I have such nice in-laws.

So far it's pretty quiet here at work. I have a few things to do here, but nothing too stressful or pressing. I am only able to do this job since it's part-time and a lot of days it's not too stressful or hectic.

Sally from the Rehab Center called me (where I go for my swimming and FMS support group) yesterday afternoon and said that our local newspaper wants to do an article on invisible illnesses (including FMS!) and she wondered if I would be interested in being interviewed. Of course I said yes! Sally was my occupational therapist and used to run the FMS support group. That was so nice of her to think of me. She said the reporter from the newspaper would be contacting me in a few days. The article is supposed to come out in mid-February. I am so thrilled-more awareness of FMS and other invisible illnesses!!

Okay, on to my to-do list.

    -pool therapy class
    -pay bills
    -do grocery list for tomorrow
    -call my girlfriend Tina

Take care, everyone. Talk to you tomorrow!

Good news Ellen, about the newspaper interview. I'm sure you'll do a fantastic job and bring some much-needed awareness to our cause.

    To-Do List

    clean kitchen & washroom
    tidy living room & bedroom
    clean outside of water cooler
    make one phone call
    write one email
    go for a manicure
go to the hardware store to replace (very) unique lightbulb
meet my sweetie uptown for coffee
    listen to relaxation tapes

    God bless,
    Anne Theresa

I just finished wiping down kitchen and cleaning main bath. Also, swiped dust in our den. That will be it for today.

I had my MRI's yesterday. Really glad it's over. Body cramped up all over. Usually, I don't mind them. Who really does fit on those small tables they put you on? LOL

Thanks Linda, for the good wishes! I really do think it will make a big difference in my lifestyle! George Strait tickts, hmm? You have a good husband!

Ellen, so great you had a nice birthday and TWO pieces of cake. Remember, no guilt! I did ask you to eat some for me! How wonderful you are going to be interviewed! I can't think of any one better to respresent 'us'!

Everyone looks to have a lot on your 'plates'.... Remember, pace yourselves!

Just spent half the night awake waiting for my daughter to get home from going out. Woke up for some reason at 2:30 and she wasn't home yet.

Today I have an appt with a new doc on base and I'm really hoping she'll have some help for me.

Although I did get a shower, shave and shampoo yesterday I spent the entire day trying to get my blood sugar over a 70 and I felt horrible all day.

I'm hoping that there's a med for me today to help make my life easier.

Kim - You are right, we are all pretty busy despite chronic health problems, but we do need to remember to pace ourselves as best we can. Yes, you are right about the cake. The second piece was yours (it was really good, too!) I'm glad your MRI is done. I also hate those narrow tables. The ones they use for surgery are pretty narrow, too, but I'm sure it makes it much easier for them to work on you.

Today is my usual Friday. My husband drove me into work and is killing time here in town until I get out of work.
He always helps me with grocery shopping during his lay-off from work. It is so much easier having him with me.

Here's my list for today and the weekend:

    -grocery shopping
    -wash sheets and towels
    -clean laundry tub
-relaxation time - read magazines and check out movies on
    Lifetime channel

Our weekend is pretty busy. We are having a couple we haven't seen in a long time over on Sunday. Nothing fancy-just sloppy joes. We'll turn on the gas fireplace in our basement familyroom.

My mother-in-law invited us over for dinner on Saturday as a belated birthday celebration for me. I don't normally like to socialize both days of the weekend, but I guess it will be okay as long as I have my rest times.

Oops-this is getting too long! Talk to everyone on Monday!

P.S. Thanks for the kind words about my interview for the chronic illness article!
