Living with pain, physical limitations, cognitive difficulties and profound fatigue, can make it difficult to do many of the things we want/need to do in a day.

However, by making small, achievable goals and breaking larger goals into smaller objectives, we can accomplish the things we need/want to do without over-doing it and risking the onset of a flare.

All are welcome to use this thread to develop and share daily goals and objectives.

What is on your To-Do List?

I'm not sure exactly what my to do list is for today but I know it means more packing, cleaning and going through my things to get ready to move.

I have a dresser in my room that I don't even remember what it contains anymore so I think I'll start there...

Also a shower and shampoo would be a good start!

    Hugs all,

I'm going to start out my week also with a shower and fixing my hair Monday morning. Unfortunately, I have scalp psorosis, so I have to put this special medicated, steroid shampoo on my scalp and let it set for a while before I get in the shower to wash it out.

I also have an appt. with my rheumy on Thursday. That will kill me for Friday!

Other than that, I will have to try and fix my DH something to eat a couple nights of the week. This is a real chore for me because I can barely stand up and walk, and just walking short distances in the kitchen to get stuff out of cabinets, etc. to get the meal on the stove, or in the oven, just wears me out.

All of the evenings, I'll be propped up in my LazyBoy recliner with my heating pad on my low back, watching my favorite TV shows!! LOL

Where did the weekend go? Already I am thinking about my time off this summer, which will be in two months. The weather was just gorgeous over the weekend-sunny and in the 50's. I can't wait until it is warm every day.

Okay, on to my to-do list:

-call insurance company and tell them they made a mistake
on our car insurance. We got a bill and we have already
paid it. I hate to think of all the hours I've spent
over the years correcting others' mistakes.
-pick up prescriptions and a few other things at the drug
-rest until it's time for my art class. I missed last
week due to a flare-up so I really want to go tonight.
There were two of us who missed last week so our teacher
has asked us to come in a half hour early so she can go
over what we did last week.

Linda - I always make it a point to apologize when I make a mistake, but I rarely get one either from others. So often they act like it's my fault they goofed up! You would think that businesses would want to treat their customers better.

I forgot to set my alarm last night, but fortunately I only woke up ten minutes late. With the time change, I'm amazed I didn't sleep much longer.

Has anyone heard anything about Kim? I know she will be out for some time with her surgery, but I had thought her husband was going to let us know how she is doing.

Here's my to-do list for today:

    -pool therapy class
    -take Chelsea to the vets
    -hamburger for dinner
-get chicken dish ready to put in the slow cooker for
tomorrow. I am finally trying one of the many recipes
I have cut out of magazines.
-my usual afternoon nap with my kitties

P.S. It's supposed to be 70 degrees here in Michigan today! I know it won't last, but it will be a welcome change.

My thoughts and prayers are with Kim today. May God bless her and keep her safe.

I had a nice day with my sister yesterday. We had coffee at my house, went to the mall and then to a matinée. It was a great time but I overdid it - we spent about 6 hours together which is WAY to much for me. (I usually limit my outings to 2 hours max but I hadn't seen my sis for ages so I pushed myself.)

As a result, the day thus far is a bad one, with much pain (methadone is down to 5 mg, from 30 and man-oh-man do I feel the difference)and utter exhaustion.

I have my weekly get-together with my best friend scheduled for this evening. so I'm going to spend most of the day resting to better my chances of being able to follow through with her. She's super-considerate of my illness and if I don't feel well enough to keep our date she'll understand. I'd rather not cancel, though.

The only thing I *need* to do today is clean the washroom:

We had a plumbing emergency yesterday and the plumber cut two big holes in my washroom ceiling. Now the entire room is covered with dust and grit so it will take more than my usual swipe to get the washroom clean today.

After the washroom is cleaned, I'll shower, shampoo then rest until the time that I have to decide whether I need to cancel with my friend or get dressed and go. Isn't fibromyalgia fun?

    God bless,
    Anne Theresa

Linda - I found the info on Kim and feel so bad for her. What a scary experience she and her family went through! I hope she improves and can get off the dialysis soon and has no more heart problems. Wow-I'll be sure to keep her in my prayers.

I am happy that this afternoon I do not have any appts. or classes to attend. I can go straight home after work. My husband is spending the afternoon with some friends he hasn't seen in awhile so I will have the house to myself.

This morning I put the chicken recipe I am trying in the slow cooker. I am going to try to use it more often. It's so nice to come home to a dinner already cooking and the house smelling so good.

    To-do list:

-maybe do a load of laundry
-start Chelsea on her laxative. (the vet told me
yesterday that she is a little constipated. The cream
she gave me is tuna flavored so hopefully she will lap
    it right up)
-see if there are any good movies on TV

    Take care, everyone.

The pain is very bad today; neck, shoulders, lower-back, all my joints, and a near-blinding headache. I have a doctor's appointment in an hour and I'm hoping he'll prescribe some meds for breakthrough pain or muscle relaxants or something.

When I get home from the doctor's, I'll start dinner if I can manage it. My sweetie cut all the veggies for me last night so it should be relatively easy to mix a few things together and start the slow cooker.

Beyond that, I'm taking a break today. The housework can wait until tomorrow.

    God bless,
    Anne Theresa

Anne Theresa - I hope today is a better one for you. I am hoping that your doctor will give you a stronger medication. If the one you are weaning off of was helping you, it doesn't seem right that you can't continue on with it. I pray that my doctor lives a long time. He's the only doctor I've found that was willing to aggressively treat my pain. I'm not pain-free by any means, but at least I am not constantly having the sharp, shooting pains I had before.

Linda - I, too, have IBS and stress definitely makes it worse! I have found a product called Digestive Advantage. It comes in a box. You can take one or two pills a day. They are chewable. They help regulate your system and have really helped me. It takes a couple of weeks or so before you notice the difference. I still have problems with IBS during really stressful times, but this product has been a big help. You should be able to find it in your drugstore.

Okay, on to my to-do list for today:

    -pool therapy class
-continue reading a good book my husband found at the
    -refill our bird feeder
-practice painting new flowers our teacher taught us during
Monday's art class. I bought some note cards from her
and when I feel really confident, would like to paint
flowers on them and give them as Christmas or birthday

    Hello, my friends...

First time on computer. I wanted to see how you were all doing. Saw the same great attitudes, you always have.

Recovery is slow. I have dyalysis 3 x weekly.. not something I had planned on. They hope it's temporary. Me too.

Getting around with my walker, better than in the hospital. Thank heaven! I would have had it with just the back surgery, but will have it longer due to my 'crash.' Which should not have happened. Four hours until a doctor was called in.... Not a good call.

I came home last Friday. God is good. I wanted to be home for our daughter's 25 birthday, and I was. Something my cardiologist said would not happen! Hee hee..

Anne Theresa, you are doing such a wonderful thread. I thank you.

I've missed you all and keep you in my prayers and thoughts. Thank you for the gift of your friendships..

I won't be on much, for now. Rehab, dialysis, etc., keeps me pretty tired. Just wanted to check in!

    Take perfect care...

Kim, it's so good to see you. God is indeed good and I thank Him that you survived your ordeal. As you recover, please take extra good care of yourself and know that you're in my thoughts & prayers.

I had a good doctor.'s appointment yesterday. He increased my pain killers and prescribed muscle relaxants. He's found another methadone-licensed doctor but the new doctor is in a city about a 2-hour drive from here.

Unfortunately, I don't drive or have anyone who could drive me, neither am I well enough to travel by bus or train. So, I'm trying to get through to my insurance company to see if they'll cover the cost of medical transportation in this instance. Fingers crossed.

    To-Do List

    make 2 phone calls
    write/respond to 2 emails
sweep & spot clean kitchen floor
    clean bedroom
    empty wastebaskets & garbage
a few minutes on the elliptical machine
    make dinner

    God bless,
    Anne Theresa

Kim-- I was so glad to see you on here! I'm so sorry for all you've gone through and I hope that you will be off the dialysis soon. So glad you got home for your daughter's birthday. I'll keep you in my prayers.

Linda-- I hope the Digestive Advantage helps you. I still have times of constipation, but it's one of the side effects of morphine that I get once in awhile. But this product definitely helps me. I would love to send my paintings on here, but I don't know how to do this and I don't think my computer at work has this capability. I'm a little old-fashioned - no computer, dishwasher or big screen TV at home! My husband and I like living a more simple life.

I'm so glad it's Friday. Last night was another bad night. I've been having problems with the queasiness off and on the past few days, but thankfully I haven't had to make any quick trips to the bathroom. The morphine does this to me sometimes. I'm just thankful it isn't all the time or I would really have a hard time working and doing other things.

This afternoon my husband and I are heading to Flower Hospital just over the Ohio state line for my hearing test at 1:30 and then meet with the ear specialist at 2:00. He will look over the hearing test results and determine if I need the second ear surgery. Since my hearing hasn't improved in my right ear, I am sure I will have to schedule the second surgery today. I am just thankful that the recovery time will only be a couple of weeks. I have two more months to work before I'm off for the summer so I guess I will have to schedule the surgery for early summer after I'm not working.

Here's my to-do list for the weekend:

-pay our accountant so he can send our taxes in
    -cash husband's unemployment check
-get groceries (my husband is helping with this!)
-practice painting flowers for Monday's art class
    -wash sheets and towels
    -read and watch movies

Take care, everyone, and have a good weekend!

Ellen, I hope your appointment goes well today. It's a shame your hearing hasn't improved and that you're expecting to have more surgery. I hope and pray this will lead to a full recovery.

    Today's To-Do List

    respond to e-mail
    put dishes away/clean kitchen counters
    clean fridge, inside & out
clean & organize bathroom cupboard & medicine cabinet
few minutes on the elliptical machine
    shower and shampoo
    listen to relaxation tape

    Enjoy the weekend, all.

    God bless,
    Anne Theresa

This afternoon my sweetie and I are going to a friend's art show & sale. We're hoping to purchase something nice for our home and - since we both have spring birthday's - we'll consider it a gift to each other. (That and a nice dinner out plus an overnight trip to the city to see a musical.)

After the art show, I'd like to get back to cleaning the basement. If I can get one room (of three) cleaned today, I'll be happy.

Beyond that, I'm going to read and rest.

    God bless,
    Anne Theresa
