    Good Morning all...

Since I haven't been on here in days this will probably end up being a small book. So I apologize in advance...

Last week I was so exhausted and spent much of my time in bed barely able to move, or I was so busy getting everything done that I possibly could.

Samson's doing well, the surgery went fine, the teeth were removed too but I forgot what a pain in the butt the next 10 days are until he can have his stitches removed. He's wearing an Elizabethan collar, bumps into everything and has been having accidents on the floor. Not sure if it's an infection causing this, he acts normal otherwise, maybe we can call the vet today.

Katy had another episode on Sat. Friday I took her for her appt at legal so I maybe should have been prepared for it, but as always to me it was just out of the blue.

I also need to take her to the medical clinic...she has something under her arm (we thought it was swollen lymph nodes like the dermatologist said) but she has a hole in her armpit very deep about a half inch long. Will this kid ever get a break? (Not sure I can do it today though)

I bought a bread maker on Saturday so I can make hubby gluten free bread. Tried it yesterday and my first loaf came out wonderful. I was expecting a glob of goo! I wish you could have seen the look on his face as he was eating his first slice of bread in weeks, fresh and hot from the oven. He was in heaven! And I'm so glad it worked, that thing was expensive and I haven't made bread in close to 30 yrs.

My appt went well, and both hubby and I have an appt on Thursday for a gastro specialist. I'm still losing weight, so I bought more clothes on Sat as well. I need a new bra now too again, but apparently my size puts me in the 'push up, gel insert, air insert' category now, lol!!! I've gone from a 40D to needing a 32B, nasty side effect of losing weight I guess, and I can't even remember when I was this size but probably 20 yrs ago.

I wish I could master balancing this bit of energy I have with the chore list that needs to be done, but until hubby starts feeling a bit better this is just how it's going to be.

For today I really need to rest (hopefully). This week I need to go to the base and get our VAT forms so I don't have to pay full price on Friday when we take Samson back to the vet. I also need to buy another toaster for hubby so his bread doesn't get cross contaminated with my wheat bread crumbs.

Katy needs to go to medical, I need more groceries so I can make more bread and I never made it last week for payday shopping. Then the gastro on Thursday and Sam on Friday.

I also need to go through the entire house and go through my clothing. I was looking for some cute underpants Sat (got lucky) and found some huge one's in my drawer and I thought I had cleaned it out already. Since we have no closets in this house, my clothes are stored all over and it's time to say good bye to some of them. It's unnerving to see the things I wore because I never realized how big I had gotten. Thank God for a husband who made me feel so beautiful through it all that I didn't even know!

Kim, btw wearing jammies doesn't make you a slug, I've lived in mine for the past 5 years!!

Anne Theresa, I'm so glad you were able to find a scooter that you can afford. Hopefully they'll get that shed built soon so you can store it outside.

Ellen, keep enjoying those short work weeks. Must feel like playing hookie sometimes, but you deserve the extra time off.

Beadlady welcome to the thread and a big sorry to those that I've forgotten to mention.

    Hugs all,

    Hi, Girls:

I checked last week's post and see that I was the last one to post on Thursday. I guess everyone must have been too busy to post over the holiday weekend.

I had a nice three days off, but as usual, it went by too fast. Of course on Good Friday afternoon I went to church. I also ran a few errands before church. I got the last of the candy needed for Jim and Harry's Easter baskets. Yes, I know that men in their 50's are a little old to get Easter baskets, but I love to do it and they love to get them!

I also decided to replace a few of my kitchen ware that was getting worn out such as a cake pan I had had for years plus a few other things. Only one thing I couldn't find, so I will have to check elsewhere when I get a chance. It's funny sometimes the things we put off buying and they are not always that expensive.

Harry and I went out for dinner on Friday. It's always a treat not to have to cook and cleanup the kitchen. It's been so nice and he and I have been getting along so well the past couple of months. On Saturday we went out to eat again and also went to the theatre. Harry also helped me by digging up and dividing my tiger lilies. My girlfriend, Tina, has been wanting some of these plants. I had boxes to put them into.

Sunday after church I dropped off the plants to Tina and then picked up Jim and then back home to pick up Harry. We had Easter dinner at Harry's parents' house. It was a very nice day. Can you believe that his parents have an eagle's nest near their house? We don't have many eagles here in Michigan so we all walked over to see it. Its in a tree by a farmer's field.
I couldn't believe the size of the nest! At we had the privilege of seeing both the male and female fly! I've seen eagles at the zoo, but never in the wild! It was an amazing sight! Jim was really fascinating, too. We all took turns looking in the binoculars, but you could still see well without them. I've seen eagles at the zoo, but never in the wild. I hope the babies hatch okay.

Nancy: I can see why you didn't get on here for a few days. You have been one busy lady! I got tired just reading your post! You certainly have had a lot going on! By the way, have they figured out why you are losing weight? To go from a 40D to a 32B bra size is a big change. It sounds like you needed to lose some weight in the beginning, but like you say, you are now "in the danger zone". You don't need to lose any more weight. I'm sure all this stress isn't helping. You've got three patients now-your husband, Katy and Sampson.

    To-do list:

    -dust downstairs
    -dinner (leftover fried chicken)

First things first! Nancy, you are a wonderful human being. It seems as if your always being 'tested' in so many ways. You're like the enegizer bunny...you keep on going and going, etc. I know you don't feel the energy, but you do amaze me. What is going on with your weight loss, Nancy? Have you had gastro problems before? I am very sorry about Katy's episode. Please let us know what they find when she has her underarms checked. Also, I am glad you were able to make bread that tasted good, and your husband enjoyed it too! YOU take good care of yourself, my friend.

Anne Theresa: Yipppee Skippie regarding your scooter! I hope it gets a lot of use!!!! Thanks for giving the great name to being a slug! Please take care.

I have nothing on my list today. Waiting for the stork to visit DD's home! Hopefully he'll be flying her way soon!

Our DS was layed off his job today. He just bought a home and had been doing so well. With the govn't., assistance he was given for the down payment, they also will lower his rent to $75. It's based on what you are making. Thankk heaven! It's sad and frightening for so many.

We went out for Easter Brunch yesterday. Didn't want to take any chances of the baby deciding to show up! It was nice. Both of our mom's, our son and his girl friend, our DD, her DH and us. I still prefer having it at home. It just didn't seem like Easter for many reasons.

I send warm hugs to you all. Take good care of yourselves..

    Good Morning all...

First of all, thanks for the kind words....very uplifting!

Kim, you must be so excited about the baby coming. And I'm sorry to hear about your son but the payments sound like something he can handle until he's back on his feet.

Ellen I'm so glad you had a nice weekend. I completely forgot to do an Easter basket for Katy this year, not used to having someone who needs one back in the house.

So hopefully on Thursday they'll find out something regarding this weight loss. I still can't figure it out but yes, I did need to lose some weight. I have a very tiny frame and must have been really big at my highest weight at 169. (I'm 5' 7")

But that was during the hypothyroid times, then came the borderline diabetic dx so I was craving sweets uncontrollably. Then came the severe hypoglycemia when I had to learn to eat differently. But I've been eating the same way now for well over 2 years and never lost weight before.

I remember being 147 before I tore my quad last year and after 2 months off of my feet, and wearing only sweats because I couldn't put pants on, I must have been up to around 155, but just guessing. You know you're going to gain weight with that kind of injury and not being able to move at all.

Now I'm at 120, that's my danger zone...because I have no idea when it will all stop! I got curious the other day at the base and tried on a size 3 jeans from the juniors dept and they slid right on.

My luck it'll be some new disease that will take steroids to fix and I'll balloon back up again. In some ways I like the old me size coming back and wish I could have enjoyed the weight loss more. This all would have been nice had I been trying!

So today's plan is to go to the other nearby base for the vat forms (if I can leave Katy alone) and go to the PX for the toaster and some supplements, hopefully a new bra too) At this point I don't even want to think about all the things that need to be done here at home. One step at a time......

    Hugs all,

    Hi, Girls:

Another cold, damp day. It was raining as I was driving into work this morning. My drive isn't very long-about 15 minutes. It is supposed to be warm and sunny on Thursday and Friday of this week-all the way up to 60! This week hasn't been too busy, so I think I will take another Friday off and enjoy the weather. I might even get some windows washed!

Harry had yesterday off. The car plants were closed down so that affected his job. That meant no work for him either. He got together with a friend of his and did some guy stuff.

I checked the calendar and after today I only have 23 more work days until my summer break! It doesn't look as though I will be working this summer. Everything I have checked out hasn't worked out. I will sign up at the temporary agencies. The town I work in has four, which surprised me since this town isn't that big. But when I called them, one of the agencies is going out of the business due to lack of work. Another agency said not to bother applying with them since business is so slow. And the other two said that I could fill out an application and take the tests. So, of course, I will, but I don't have a lot of hope that much will come out of it. I put up an ad weeks ago saying I would do work for an elderly person, but haven't had a call yet. I also tried to apply to work for the Census Bureau, but they said they already had enough workers for my area. They said to call again at the end of August.

Kim: I'm so sorry your son has been layed off from his job. I wonder when this recession is going to end. I am so thankful that I have a good job 3/4 of the year and so far my husband's job is going okay. That's good that they lowered his payments.

Nancy: As far as the Easter basket goes, I'm sure that Katy realizes you have had a lot going on so it was easy for you to forget to get her one. I'm glad that our words have helped you. That what this post is all about. For us to vent and to help eachother.

I'm going out for lunch today (an hour instead of a half hour) with some of the women from work. We are meeting some of the women who are retired from the college and should have a good time.

    To-do list:

    -swimming class
    -vacuum carpet
    -pay bills

Hello ladies, I hope everyone had a nice Easter. Mine was nice, just the two of us at home.

Nancy, I'm glad Samson came through his surgery okay - I hope he recovers well and without incident. I'm sorry Katy had an episode - I hope she's feeling better now.

It's great your first bread-making experience was such a success. I've often thought of getting a bread-maker as I simply LOVE home-made bread but, I'm afraid of all the calories I'd incur, knowing my will-power is not strong enough to avoid eating more than my share of fresh-made bread. Thankfully, my mom-in-law has a breadmaker and, each Christmas, she gifts us with several delicious loaves, so at least I get an annual taste :)

I hope the issue with Katy's armpit is not serious and I hope your own appointment goes well on Thursday. Losing that much weight without trying must seem daunting. I hope your doctor is helpful in this regard.

Ellen, it sounds like you had a lovely Easter. I think it's wonderful that you gave your men Easter candy. It's nice to treat the inner-child once in a while.
What a delight to see the eagles. They're beautiful, aren't they?
I hope you enjoy your special lunch today.

Kim, I don't have grandchildren but I have 12 nieces & nephews and I remember how nervous & excited I felt those last few days waiting for the stork to arrive. It must be doubly nerve-wracking to await a grandchild.
I'm sorry about your son's lay-off. I hope things fall into place for him soon.
God bless you & your family.

I'm in the midst of reading an excellent novel so I'd like to spend an hour or two reading this afternoon. Fortunately, the house is still clean from the weekend's housework-a-thon and I don't have any appointments until my WW meeting this eve. There are only a few things I have to do:

    put dishes away
    empty wastebasket
    make appointment with denturist

    God bless,
    Anne Theresa

    Good Morning all....

Well I made it through my list yesterday and even made it to the other base for gas and a small commissary visit. Had lunch with hubby and it was nice to see him during the day when his eyes are still clear and he's not exhausted just yet.

I thought I had a day of rest today but we forgot about a dermatology appt for Katy, so he can look at the open sore under her arm today too.

We'll probably do a bit of shopping afterwards and have lunch at one of our favorite restaurants since the weather is so beautiful.

After that, I'm sure it's back to bed for me. Luckily Katy not only did well yesterday, but cleaned the house while I was gone and cooked dinner too.

    Hugs all,

    Hi, Girls:

Harry was later coming home last night so that meant I didn't have to cook any dinner. Nice for me, but not so nice for Harry as it meant an extra long day for him. Although with so many people losing their jobs right now, I guess we shouldn't complain about the extra hours of work.

My brother, Tom, called and left a message on our answering machine a couple of days ago just to talk. I know that calling him usually means a long conversation and I haven't been up to it. He sounded pretty happy on the phone. I haven't really talked too much about this brother to all of you. He is mentally ill, too, but does better than Jim. He is bi-polar, but is married, has two adult kids and is working. Usually his life is pretty frazzled as he takes on too much renting out all these apartments and he spends too much money (a symptom of his illness). Right now he has filed for banktrupty and is somewhere between $600,000 - $800,000 in dept. Sad thing is, most of his life, he and his wife had good paying jobs. As much as I love my brother, sometimes I can't talk to him as his life is just too stressful for me.
But I will talk to him soon. It does sadden me to have both of my brothers be mentally ill.

It's another rainy day here, but it is supposed to clear up this afternoon and be warmer today. Tomorrow and Friday it will be sunny and in the 60's-hopefully! I will be taking Friday off to use up another vacation day. Another three-day weekend!

I will be coming into work late tomorrow as I have a dr. appt. with the FMS dr. first thing in the morning. It shouldn't take too long as the dr. shouldn't be running behind schedule.

Nancy: I hope all goes well with Katy's sore on her arm. I hope it isn't anything serious. I sounds like you are persevering and getting through your long list. That was a nice surprise to come home and find that Katy had cleaned and made dinner!

Anne Theresa: I love homemade bread, too. Both my mom and grandma used to make it. I loved it with lots of butter! But, of course, it's not good for the waistline. I remember how the smell would fill the house.

    To-do list:

    -go grocery shopping
    -vacuum hard floors upstairs
    -finish washing white clothes
    -empty dishwasher

    Talk to everyone tomorrow!

    Good Morning all....

Yesterday went just as I planned and I did have to spend the rest of the day in bed like I thought.

The dermatologist had no idea what the heck happened under Katy's arm, he had never seen anything like it. It's too late for stitches since it's been open for a week now but he wants her to see a GP again.

We had to cancel hubby's appt today (he was supposed to go with me, we had back to back appts) because something is going on at work and he can't leave. They'll be discussing his extension so I hope everything goes well so we can stay here. His appt is now in May so he's going to have to continue to be ill until we can find an answer, poor guy.

Ellen I'm sorry that both of your brothers suffer from mental illness, I know how difficult it can be for the families.

    Hello all,

Last eve, I went on my inaugural scoot! With sweetie walking beside me, I scooted to the plaza up the street (rented a few movies, went to the department store and the grocery store) then home again. It was a lovely, joyful experience!

This morning I went out again, this time on my own and in the opposite direction. I went to a favourite destination; a bargain department store situated next to the community centre. The sun was shining warm on my face and it felt so good to be getting around with such ease and no pain. Already, my world has opened into another dimension of mobility - what a wonderful turn of events!

Best of all, I feel well enough to enjoy & appreciate this turn of events. Since I lowered the dose of topomax (1 week+ ago) I feel pretty good. My house is tidy; I'm no longer overwhelmed by housework. I can take a shower without it seeming like a near- insurmountable chore, I'm sleeping semi-regular hours, I'm cooking & eating healthy meals. My mood is good, my outlook is positive. I hope this lasts and I wish I could pass it on to you.

Nancy, with regard to Katy's sore under her arm - just a thought...I once had a boil-like- pimple that grew hard and eventually it burst. Everything drained out of it and I was left with a perfect hole, deep and red, and at this point fairly painless. I wonder if something like this is the cause/effect of Katy's sore? At an rate, I'm glad you had it looked at and I hope it doesn't cause her any more trouble. I'm glad she's feeling better, well enough to cook and clean.

Ellen, thanks for sharing with us about your brother Tom. I can only imagine how stressful your life must seem at times with concern for this brother or that. I hope your weather is nice today and that your appointment with your FMS doctor is helpful. Enjoy your long weekend!

I was up early this am and did all my chores and so my to-do list is to read, take a nap and make dinner. After dinner, I'll watch a movie.

    God bless,
    Anne Theresa

Looks like we will be grandparents tomorrow! Our DD found out, yesterday that she had early pre-clampsia (sp). Baby was not in distress and she was warned what to look for and call with any questions.

They are checking into hospital tonight and they will start her on something to help dialate her. She is just like her mom! If this does not do anything they will start her on the P-drip tomorrow morning and break her water. They will only let her labor for a set amount of time before doing a c-sect. This is not at all how she wanted her birth to be, natural, no eppie, etc. I told her it's not always our call, and the biggest concern should be about the baby and herself. Of course, she agreed.

Please send her good thoughts and prayers! I am a little concerned and just want a safe baby and daughter soon.

    Everyone have a great day!

Congrats to Kim....hopefully now you are a grandma! It's great...you'll love it!

Anne Theresa- I'm happy to hear how well you are doing. The scooter has given you some freedom and you're feeling well enough to enjoy it.....that's great! As for movies, I enjoy the old ones the most. Movies with Cary Grant, Ingrid Bergman, Katharine Hepburn....those are the best.

Nancy- I hope Katy's sore will get better. What a weird thing to have - it must be painful. I hope your hubby gets better soon. I have a friend who has gone gluten free and it has helped her to feel better, but she still has off days. It's tough to pinpoint sometimes. Size 3 jeans? I don't think I've EVER fit into those.......

Ellen- enjoy your Friday. You probably won't see this till Monday, but I hope you get your warm weather. It sure lifts the spirits and gives one a boost of energy.

Haven't heard from Linda for awhile.....hope she's OK.

    Hugs from Terri

I have been MIA. I am glad to hear everyone is okay and some with exciting news and plans ahead. I crashed this past Monday as soon as my ds went back to school! After drinking my morning coffee thinking I would have a normal day I fell back to sleep for almost his entire school day!! He had 9 days off for spring break. I kept him super busy. Oh my, how in the world will I do the summer.

We have our son's IEP meeting with the school district next week. It is his annual one and I have the program specialist coming to ensure the meeting goes well. She has even offered to take me on observations of all the second grade teachers so we can choose who would be best for next year:) I really like her!

We get to have a "stay-cation" this weekend. My MIL is on a cruise and said we could stay at her place just to get away. She lives a couple communities south of us but overlooking a park and the ocean. We are excited since we haven't had even a weekend get away for a long time.

Nancy-GF bread that is great! It is much better home-made. You have inspired me to get out my bread maker and try a new recipe I have been wanting to try. It is sooo nice that Katy is able to help you with the cleaning and cooking. That must have made your day!

Anne Theresa-You seem very happy with your scooter. I'm glad you have it now!

Ellen-I am sorry also to hear about your other brother with mental illness. It must feel like a lot of responsibility for you.

Kim-Congrats on the new grandbaby. I hope your daugter does okay and isn't too disapointed with her birth experience. I know how you have it all in your mind how you want it to go.

Terri-Have fun with your family. I can tell you are so excited to spend time with them.

    Hugs to all!

    Hello ladies,

Kim, I hope everything goes well with mom and baby. I will keep you, mom & baby in my prayers and I look forward to the good news.

Terri, I like the old movies too. Our cable package has a channel devoted to the classics and I just love to lose myself in those movies. I'm sure you're looking forward to your daughter & granddaughter's visit. How old are your granddaughters?

Hi Molly, I completely understand the need to crash after working so hard to care for your little guy around the clock. When I overdo it (not that anything I do these days could compare to such intense childcare) my body gives out like that, crashes and demands a marathon sleep. I'm so glad the program specialist is attending the upcoming IEP meeting with you. I'm sure this alleviates some of the anticipatory stress. A 'stay-cation' sounds like a brilliant idea - Enjoy!

    To Do Today

    put laundry away
    make bed
    swipe washroom
    water plants
    scoot to grocery store :)

    God bless,
    Anne Theresa
