    Good Morning all....

Today Katy has another psych appt on base. Hopefully we can get the rest of her necessary meds put in the computer so I can pick them up on base for her.

I don't like this doc we have to see, and she doesn't like us either but that's ok. Her office is more geared towards people who are having marital difficulties and trouble sleeping than someone who is truly mentally ill.

Grammy, I tore (ruptured) my quad muscle in my right leg a few months ago and since it wasn't treated properly with surgery, it hasn't healed properly, nor will it. These injuries take forever to heal anyway. It's a long painful process.

Just 2 weeks ago I was finally able to sit up in bed and do crosswords before falling asleep. Prior to that, I could only lay on my side with a pillow propping up my knee.

I still can't cross my legs, sit curled up for more than 5 minutes etc...still hurts to drive. I still have trouble in the kitchen because we tend to pivot when cooking and that too is a problem for me.

Anyway, I hope to hear from some of our missing friends this week.

    Hope all are well...

    Hi, Girls:

Well, it's almost time for me to leave work, but since I haven't been on here since Weds. or Thurs., I decided I had better show up today! Cathie from the Art Dept. has really been keeping me hopping since I came back to my old job last Weds. so I haven't really had time to say "hi" to you girls. Plus, I've been trying to still help the English Dept. until they find a replacement.

I feel bad that I missed Jim's doctor appt. this morning with the psychiatrist. I don't miss too often, but I had a big project for Cathie that I needed to finish up. I'll see Jim on Weds. and there isn't anything pressing right now anyway.

I have good news-Harry and I actually had a good weekend together! He didn't do any picking up me! On Sunday he offered to take me out for dinner and we saw a play. (and he payed for the whole thing-I didn't have to pay half!) I'm holding my breath that it lasts! So I will have some good news to give my counselor today. Of course I know we still have lots of work to do, especially Harry, since he hasn't gone to counseling yet.

Nancy: I'm sorry you don't like Katy's doctor, but I guess you don't get to choose who you get. And as for your leg, I know that these injuries can take a long time to heal.

Grammy: Congrats on the weight loss! I guess there is something to be said for physical labor!

    To-do list:

    -appt. with my counselor
-gynecologist appt. (having pap smear done)
    -empty dishwasher
    -leftovers for dinner

Nancy, Ellen, Grammy and those who follow, hello.

Nancy, I hope the appointment with Katy's doctor goes okay today. It seems this doc prefers to work with the 'worried well' rather than with people who truly have mental health issues. It's a shame when doctors discriminate like that. I'm sorry your quad is taking so very long to heal. That you're finally able to sit up in bed to do crossword puzzles shows some progress, but you surely have a long way to go.

Ellen, I'm glad you & Harry had an enjoyable weekend together. Good times like this will serve you well in the days ahead & remind you why you're going to counseling and otherwise working so hard to keep the relationship healthy. When it's good, it's very good and worth holding onto. It sounds like you're hopping busy at work - that will surely make the workday go by faster.

I'm glad you have a restful day planned for today Grammy, after so much physical work last week. It's important to take the downtime & give your body time to recover. Like you, I need to be careful in the heat, it really gets to me. Enjoy the day!

I had a wonderful weekend. I spent Friday with my 20 ear-old niece. We went to the show (Igor, it was good), then to the mall for cappuccinos and a bit of shopping (I bought a new pair of jeans and some towels for my newly-renovated washroom). After that we came back to my house, made grilled cheese sandwiches & watched TV.

On Saturday, sweetie and I spent the day together. We went for a nice long walk, then puttered around the house; reading, watching TV. Yesterday, I went with two girlfriends to a nearby tourist town and spent the day looking through the shops. I found the neatest store that sold flavoured oils and vinegars to make your own salad dressing. I bought Citrus Grapeseed Oil and Mango vinegar and man-oh-man, the salad I made for dinner last night had more than enough zing!

So, after all that, I have a day at home planned today, though I'll likely get out for a walk.

    - make bed
    - put dishes away
    - clean kitchen counters & sinks
    - water indoor plants
    - wash down window sills
    - book hotel room for upcoming trip to Toronto - sweetie and I will celebrate 20 years together in October. We have tickets for Chorus Line, we'll likely go to the museum, spend a couple nights in a nice hotel.
    - respond to email
    - fill out insurance forms for extended health care
    - pay bills on line

    God bless,
    Anne Theresa

    Good Morning all,

Ellen, I'm glad things have settled down a bit, even for a nice weekend. You were overdue for a break.

Anne Theresa, can we have a pic of the long awaited bathroom?

Grammy, yesterday's appt was basically a mistake. We've been to this psych doc before, but her GP told her she had to go to this appt to get the meds in the computer on base.

She normally sees a psych on the German economy but her husband was picking up her meds for free off base. I'm not sure how to do that since we're retired so I was trying to get them all from the base and in their system. (We've had to pay up to 10 Euro for one pill before and I just can't afford that)

So we still have the mess, need another appt with the doc off base and she has to write the prescription properly so I won't have to go off base to get the meds. One step forward, two steps back around here.

Today we'll go to base for refills...tomorrow she has another appt with her regular doc.

    Hugs all,

    Hello all,

Nancy, as requested, I uploaded a pic of the newly-renovated washroom. This view shows the new sink, vanity & mirror and gives and idea of the colour scheme. As you can see, it's a very small room.

I can't believe the rigmarole you need to go through to get Katy's meds. I hope they all come through without incident, unexpected expense or undue frustration. My greatest angst is dealing with systems, I'd surely be lost if I had to make my way through that much red-tape.

Tonight is my weight-watcher's meeting. The experience of weekly weigh-ins has become very frustrating for me - this week I've gained 12 lbs without once straying from the program.

Between my thyroid (for which I take meds) and the steroid I take for my lungs, my weight is up & down like a yo-yo even though my diet is good & consistent. I see the doctor next week and so I'll talk to him about this and see if there's anything I can do to better control my weight. In the meantime, I'm going to try to not let it bother me. My weight is only numbers on a scale; not a true measure of my worth as a person.

The only other thing on today's agenda is to pick-up & tidy the living room & bedroom. Beyond that, the house is relatively clean.

If I work smart, I may have time before my meeting to finish the sci-fi novel I've been reading. There's nothing better than a well-worn paperback, from the 25 cent bin at the used bookstore. science fiction at it's finest.

    God bless,
    Anne Theresa

    Good Morning all....

Anne Theresa, grrr, this is frustrating, I can't seem to find your profile and the pic of the long awaited bathroom.

I'm so sorry about the weight gain, but you're right...being on steroids is going to make this difficult. I hope the doc can help you with this.

I must have caught a cold while I was out 2 days ago so I ended up in bed all day yesterday. Now my throat hurts today, but at least I know why I had such a down day yesterday.

We'll be going to Katy's appt today and hopefully not much else....just more rest.

    Hugs all,

    Hi all,
Anne Theresa- I share your frustration with weight gain....I'm on thyroid meds now too and it is harder to lose weight. I gained 1 1/2 pounds this week, while hubby lost 2 1/2 lbs. Not fair! Guys seems to have a much easier time losing weight.

Nancy- I wish you had been advised to have surgery when you had your injury.....now it is something to deal with that should be healing better. I wonder how you managed those plane flights to London.....I think that would be agony.

Ellen- keep you chin up! You have a lot going on with Harry and a new job to boot. Keep us posted.....

Grammy- take it easy! It will cool off sooner or later and the work outside will still be there, right?

    To Do:
Try to arrange some furniture in Mother's place- she's coming this weekend and her furniture is being held up so the truck will have a full load.

    Clean house

I have to quit canning and freezing produce, as the freezer and shelves are FULL

    Have a good day, friends!

    Hi, Girls:

Well, I leave work in a half hour so I decided to get on here before I leave. I finished a big project for one professor and got a good start on another one. They sure are keeping me hopping!

I had lunch with a co-worker yesterday and she thinks that if I keep Harry happy sexually, that that is a lot of the way to keep a man happy. I think she is right.

Yesterday I called Harry while he was driving the truck and had phone sex with him (I know-aren't a a naughty girl!) Last night he came home with flowers for me! And he hasn't been grumpy with me all week either! I still wish we could go back to combining our incomes, though.

Grammy: I agree with you. When I got my inheritance from my parents, I didn't just keep it to myself. I shared it with him. Maybe I should remind him of that like you reminded your husband of when you made more money and shared with him? Have fun with your pond. I am sure it will be a fair of amount of work installing it, but I'm sure it will be pretty when you get done. I have always wanted a water feature in my yard.

Anne Theresa: I'm so sorry for your weight gain. I'm sure your meds are to blame. 12 pounds in one week is ridiculous! I checked out your bathroom. It looks nice, but you are right, it is very small!

Nancy: I'm sorry you have so much trouble getting Katy's meds. Isn't life a struggle sometimes? I hope your leg continues to heal.

Terri: I'm not surprised that your cupboards and freezer is full of produce with all the freezing and canning you do! I've done a fair amount myself this year-especially canning. It looks so pretty to see all the cans on the shelves and gives me a good feeling of accomplishment.

    To-do list:

    -drop of recycling (done)
    -empty dishwasher (done)
    -take Jim out to lunch
-pick up two boxes for our TV's (since our TV's are
changing over to digital in October)
    -vacuum carpet upstairs
    -dust basement

Talk to everyone tomorrow (if it doesn't get too crazy at work!)

Nancy, are you using the new prohealth web site? If so, you won't be able to access profiles & pictures. You need to go through the old immunesupport site to see profiles. I hope the new site adds in the capacity for profiles & pictures as it really is a lovely feature. I hope your cold and sore throat doesn't last too long. Get some rest.

Ellen, I'm glad you & Harry are enjoying each other and getting along better. Having phone sex while driving a truck must take a lot of skill, I bet they don't teach that in driver's training :) Seriously though, sex can be an important part of a relationship, particularly when it fosters closeness and caring.

Terri, I believe you're right to say men have an easier time than women losing weight. It's tough, isn't it? Don't worry about your small gain, a few setbacks are par for the course insofar as losing weight is concerned. It must be a great feeling to have your cupboards & freezer full. Your family will enjoy the harvest; wonderful fruit & vegetables, all winter long.

I slept late today and woke with a headache. I'm going to take some Excedrin & lie down with an ice pack. If/when my headache eases up, I'll look after the following:

    - empty wastebaskets & garbage
    - put dishes away, clean counters & sink
    - sweep & spot clean floors
    - make dinner

    God bless,
    Anne Theresa

    Good Morning all,

Thanks for the tip to go back to the old site. I got to see the pic finally. Looks very pretty, I'll bet you're glad to have this important space back Anne Theresa!

We managed the doc appt yesterday and I even went grocery shopping after wards so that frees up today to do anything or nothing for me, whew!!

Ellen, you naughty girl......hope you enjoy perking up your marriage in any way you can!

Sorry all, forgot to hit shift this morning when I came back to this site.

    Hope all are well....

    Hi all,
This will be short, as I have company coming tonight for chili. We serve it with Fritos, sour cream, and cheese. I'll have mine without garnishes, so as not to gain weight again this week!

Anne Theresa- the bathroom looks lovely. Hang in there on the diet- I'm sure your scale will show it soon!

Has anyone on here done a food elimination diet, as in food allergies/ sensitivities? I have a friend that I'm helping with recipes that have to be gluten free, egg free and dairy free. She's had a lot of abdominal pain that the regular GP's have tested for and come up dry. She's going to the doc that saw my son for chronic fatigue and helped him immensely, so I'm hoping he can help her. The problem is, is that she has done well on the new diet since Sunday, but now is having headaches. Do you think this could be withdrawal? Or kind of a detox reaction? Let me know your thoughts.....

    Have a great day, everyone!

Terri, with regard to your friend and her experience of headaches, it makes sense to me that any sort of radical change in diet could cause an upset to the system and result in headaches. If your friend is accustomed to white sugar & flour or caffeine (coffee, pop, chocolate) then withdrawal could be the culprit. Sweetie gets a terrible headache if he gets less than his usual amount of coffee each day and I typically feel unwell if I don't eat enough protein. At any rate, I hope it clears up soon. Enjoy your company this evening!

I hope you have a nice day today Nancy. It's nice to have a free day now and then. I had a free day yesterday and ended up taking a nice, long nap. It was just lovely!

I have a busier day planned for today, focused around my afternoon massage therapy session. My massage therapist works from a small spa located in one of the local malls and so I always combine my massage therapy appointments with a trip to the dollar-store, grocery store & pet store. I have my shopping list already and I only need do a few things before I head out:

    shower & shampoo
    make bed
    empty wastebaskets
    dishes, counter-tops, sink

After I get home and have a little rest, I'll get dinner started and, if I'm so inclined, watch a movie.

    God bless
    Anne Theresa

    Hi, Girls:

Well, Cathie from the Art Dept. didn't give me any more work to do today so that gave me a chance to catch up on some things. Yay! My desk looks much better than when I came in this morning and I actually got a chance to return some phone calls.

We have been having such warm, sunny weather this month. So far we haven't had to turn on the heat. Oops-I may be jinxing myself!

I have another doctor appt. today. I am so sick of going to the doctor. I think I have had about 15 dr. appts. this month. This time it's for my eyes. Harry said if I get to the point where I can't drive any more, then we might have to buy a house next to the college so I could walk to work. So I guess he plans on staying married to me! Of course if it gets that bad, maybe I won't be able to work, either. It's getting harder for me to see the computer screen, too. I so hope this dr. can help.

Harry mentioned about taking me to the Cleveland Clinic. They have eye specialists there. That may be our next step.

Nancy: Yes, you are right, Nancy. I am naughty! But a girl's gotta do what a girl's gotta do! You have to admit that I'm getting positive results. The husband and I did some cuddling this morning, too!

Anne Theresa: I hope you can start to lose weight soon. I almost hate to tell you that I've lost 41 pounds since December. Is there anyway you can try the Topamax? It's for restless legs and headaches. It's really helped me. It makes you lose your appetite.

Okay, here's my to-do list for today:

    -dr. appt.
    -pool therapy class
-pay for next pool therapy 9-week session
    -vacuum hard floors
    -get kitty cats outside today

Thought I'd drop in and say hello!

Geez Nancy.. take care of youself! I cannot imagine the pain. Too bad Katy's new doc is a witch... You are right. It's her problem, in many ways.

Ellen.. Glad to hear your work situation seems to be better! Also, happy you and Harry had a good weekend. Is he back on his meds?

Anne Theresa.. Our 28 anniversary is 10/04. I hope you enjoy your time in Toronto.

For everyone else... I think of you all very often. Sounds as if life is treating everyone pretty well this week.

We were gone for over a week. Had appointments the next week, and our son's 21 birthday party this last week. There's been other 'stuff' going on too. Of course, now I am flaring like mad. Which then leads to depression. Of course, I don't know if it's the DD's or Bipolar. I have enjoyed the beauty of the days. Usually, from my recliner this week.

You are always in my thoughts! As usual, I've missed you all!

    Take care..

    Good Morning all....

Ellen, I'm so happy for you and your weight loss. I know it's hard to enjoy when others are struggling, but I think this is a tight group filled with wonderful women who can be happy for you at the same time.

I hope your doc can find something to help you with your eyesight problems.

Grammy, you're a hoot! I hope you get your closets finished.

Kim, as always it's wonderful to hear from you. I'm so sorry that you're flaring again. Please take good care of yourself.

Terri, I agree with what Anne Theresa said about the elimination diet. So many things can cause a headache when you stop eating/drinking them.

I'll still be resting today although my landlord is making a visit this morning to talk about some unfinished things. Which just reminded me I need to get going and get dressed early this morning.

    Hugs all,

    Hi, Girls:

Well, I have good news on my eyes. After a lot of struggle at the eye doctor's yesterday, she was finally able to get me a prescription that will give me 20/20 vision! Unless, as she says, the FMS changes my vision again. So who knows. But I will try and stay positive. It's been less than 60 days since I got my last lenses, so these new ones won't cost me anything. She wrote down that it was doctor error on the new prescription, even though it wasn't, which was nice of her. So I will take in and hopefully won't have any problems getting the new lenses. You see, where I go, they don't prescribe glasses or contacts. You have to go elsewhere. If this works, how wonderful to finally be able to really see again!! And, knock on wood, if it will just last! My eyes have really deteriorated in the span of just a few months.

Today I am going over to the bookstore on campus and getting an Adrian College sweatshirt. We can wear them on Pride Days. I thought I should start showing a little school support. The first one is next Friday. They are having a sale on them and Harry said he would pay for half of it.

Kim: Yes, Harry is still on his meds. Congratulations on your 28th wedding anniversary! Hopefully you will be over your flare-up so you can enjoy it.

Nancy: I wasn't aware that you were renting. I had thought you had bought your house. How is Katy doing these days? Jim is doing really well and has gone back to the Hope Center three days a week again, which makes me really happy. I like to see him keep busy, especially with activities that don't involve me. I can't be with him all the time and he needs to do things to occupy his time.

Grammy: You and I must have posted at the same time yesterday as I didn't see your post until today. That's okay-you can tease me all you want! I know it's all in good fun! I never thought I would get this naughty either! I've always been a good Catholic girl! Sounds like you needed a break from the pool job. Just digging the hole would be quite an undertaking especially if it's hot out.

    To-do list:

    -order new lenses
    -get gas for the car
    -wash sheets and towels
    -vacuum laundry room
    -empty dishwasher (done)

    To-do list for the weekend:

    -pay bills
-going to a festival on Saturday with Harry
-freeze green beans from the garden

    Have a good weekend, everyone!
