Found out I have Fm about a year ago. All the medication seen to do nothing. Took nine years and many surgerys later to find out what was wrong. But my primary care doc will not give me anything for pain. Not the strong stuff just somethig to knock the edge off "SOMA" is good but he will not give nothing. I have been in tears in his office and still nothing. I have a new fm doctor but cant get in until September. What should I do to convince him the pain I am in. Help

Many here have faced this problem and will be along with their stories. I have been lucky enough to get some meds that help some, not great but they do take the edge off most times. Have you gone to the ER? Have you brought in articles from this site? Sometimes research can help drs learn along with you. Good luck and hang in there. You are in my thoughts and prayers.

Find a new doctor, any doctor that will help you with controlling your pain. I went through so many awful, rude doctors who assumed just because I am young (20), that I was just 'med seeking'. That I wanted a buzz from medication. You never, ever have to tolerate a doctor who does not believe you or does not try his/her best to help you. Go to the ER if you need to. I found a doctor there who would give me pain meds when I was at my worst. Walk-in clinics can be helpful. There was one doctor there who was amazing for me. He was the first doctor who truly believed that I was in horrific pain and wanted to help me.

I hate being on pain medication, but at this point it is the only thing that gets me through the day. Next time you are in severe pain go to the ER. If the doctor you get doesn't help you, ask for a new one. Also, tell them to admit you for pain control. This way you will be able to see a pain specialist asap, and they are more likely to help you than anyone else. INSIST to be admitted if they try to talk you out of it. I'll send you some positive thoughts. I really hope you find a good, helpful doctor soon.
