What's your take on rhodiola to help cope with Depression?

    I have been diagnosed with severe depression last Jan. this year. It was a really tough fight but looking back from where I was to where I am now, I can say that I'm pretty much okay now than before. I have been able to go back to my daily routine and have started eating again (but I still get episodes sometimes, maybe 4-5 times a week). One of my friends recommed the use of RR (rhodiola rosea). So I looked it up and saw great reviews and some negative ones from taking rr. I took the chance to buy one bottle online and I'm on my 3rd day of using it. I could say that it helped boost my energy and my mood. I don't feel the need to be sad or what not. Or maybe it's just placebo effect? What can you say about RR? If you have tried taking it what are the pro's and con's you've experienced? what brand is the most effective for you?
