Does anyone think eating wheat makes their fibromyalgia worse? I am suspicious wheat is making me more fatigued.
    Anyone else?
    Thank you,
    Joan

My solutionn for my sinus's and the fatigue was to clean up my diet. I cut any wheet, and soy, which made me have an instant brain fog and headache.

I think once I started to clean my diet up, I only had 1-2 days (half days, in the morning or afternoon) where I felt tired, foggy and had sinus pain.

changing my diet did not get rid of my pain in the body.

I found out I am allergic to most of the foods I have been eating, one of which is Wheat. Now that I have stopped eating all of the foods that my body seemingly reacts badly to, I have felt so much better. Not perfect, but better.

So far the list is Wheat, Rice, Oats, Flax, possibly Barley and my allergist thinks I may be gluten intolerant in general but we are working on getting the answer to that one.

My "so called" IBS turned out to be severe allergies to foods and not IBS at all. Ever since I got rid of the foods, the "IBS" is gone and my digestive system works again for the most part. I do have to say though, boy does it make grocery shopping an adventure since everything in the known universe contains either Wheat or Rice. I would recommend everyone on this site and everyone with FMS or CFS or IBS get tested for these allergies!!! I'm so glad they found mine, my allergist told me it could have killed me if I kept eating all of this crap!

Rice was the major one, because the last time I ate rice it did almost kill me. Throat swelled, everywhere the rice touched swelled, it was a fantastic time. And with the wheat, it just makes it so I am constipated for days (up to a week or more) and bloated and major stomach pain, also causes my intestines to swell. So in ending this rant, yes, I do feel they are connected. Hope this helps!

I had some allergy testing a few years back by Intadrermal with(preservative free) allergans and I showed that I was allergic to wheat. And yes I have noticed that I have pain flare-ups when I eat wheat. Wheat is in alot of things so my advice is Read Labels. I need to get a new "OWL" magnifier for my wallet because mine broke, sometimes my eyesight is worse than other times and I have a problem reading very small print.

Thank all of you so much! I will try to stop all wheat in hopes of being less tired. I could barely get out of bed last week but every night I had a little snack of Wheat Thins. I have cut back on my sugar but when I stop completely, I have terrible hypoglycemia attacks. I need just a little. I really appreciate the information.
    Best wishes,
    Joan

I saw a naturopath last year and she told me that food allergies cause FM. I am going to see a specialist in food sensitivities in the near future. I have had several things happen when I eat different foods. I have had my arms and legs swell up and they are still swollen, and when I ate creamed corn it made the pain in my muscles even worse than it was. It went away then next day. So I think that is defenitely affecting me.

I have found that Wild oats or Whole foods carries food for people who are allergic to wheat, soy, corn, eggs, etc.

If you don't have one of these stores in you town, I was getting food shipments from Glutien (spelling) free. com. I found some great products there, but with any of these special stores in town or on the web, it ain't cheap!

    Good luck!

OMG--I thought I was the only one with a rice allergy. Allergy Rast test does not show it, but LEAP sensitivity tests does.

When I eat rice my throat get itchy, globy and feels like swelling going on, although I can't see it. I have had to take cortisone several time because of rice. Don't go near it now!

bump--I too am interested if there are many fibo/cfs patients that have noticed pain after eating wheat or any other symptoms/wheat allergies.

    Thanks,

    Here's another bump... And...

    To TaniaF:

Nope you are not alone. I can't even touch Rice and if I do accidently eat something with rice in it, it's off to the hospital I go. I have to carry an epi-pen now and just avoid rice all together as much as possible... No more Chinese take out for me.

It was really hard for me to believe because I had been eating rice for so long and then one day ... Poof! Literally, I swelled up like I had gotten attacked by bees or something. It was terrible. My throat swells, anything the rice touches swells and I get itchy and hives and can't breathe... It's a fun time... hahaha.

This is interesting. When I eat wheat I get stuffed up. I'm having a vega test done (allergies to foods etc..) I'm not going to tell them of any symptoms and let see what it comes up with.
