When you are on disability what is the age of retirement?

    Do they force you to retire at the smaller amount of 62 or can you retire at 65(or whatever the age is for your group/Linda

    You retire at the age that is for your age group, thankfully!

    hope that makes you feel better!

    I also read that Medicare would still be available (at least for certain age groups) at 65 even if one is working; however... I'm betting that the provision will not last.

    I'm glad that I don't have to retire early,though,I'm still eligible for medicare next year,I know,because You do on medicare 2 years after you are found to have a disability.Linda

    has that changed from one to two years?

    For my husband, who is on SSD, he was eligible for Medicare a year after the date he was considered disabled on.

    But this was 12 years ago... they keep changing things and making it harder, so I wouldn't be surprised if they had changed it!
