My husband and I are considering getting his sperm tested. We have been trying for a baby, but have not been successful. Do gynecolgists offices do this? I saw a home test I could order from online. Has anyone ever used these? Are they fairly accurate? Help? LOL Carla

My sister and brother in law just went through all of this. There are so many variables to reproduction. Your OB/GYN should be able to help direct you to a reproduction/ high risk doctor to find out what the trouble may be.

I would recommed a consult with your OB/GYN for your next move.

Your OB/GYN should be able to refer you to someone.

    Good luck.

I went through all of this also, and sperm testing is most commonly done at a urologists office. Most infertility docs will have that test done as one of the first few things, because it is simple and non-invasive. I personally would be leary of an online test, as to my knowledge they need a fresh sample (i.e. - you husband does the deed right at the urologists office).

    Good luck!

So relieved to hear from you.

Some gynes also run fertility clinics and this is where you can go for testing for both of you. Your insurance usually will cover fertility tests.

How ARE you, you were so down when you last posted a couple of weeks ago and a lot of your posts were gone. Relieved you seem to be OK.

Oh my goodness!! I just read the posts where everyone was

looking for me . . . so sorry to be gone so long and MIA

    ya'll. I hadn't realized how long it had been! I know I

have been feeling it, that's for sure!! I am doing pretty

good. As long as I stay on 3 Lyrica per day - my

cyst/pelvic pain stays under control pretty much. I have

had a rough past 3 weeks. I tried to go down on my dosage

of Lyrica because I was so chronically tired I couldn't

function to do anything - this is one of the reasons I

haven't been on the site - didn't even have the energy to

do that:>( The dr's have me on Lyrica 75mg 3 times daily

and Lunesta now at nighttime and 5-10 mg of a muscle

relaxer and I am having difficulties with chronic fatigue

due to these dosages, so for the past month we have been

alterring these dosages to see what works best so I can

function. For the m.relaxer I take 5mg per night except

during my cycle and then it is 10mg to help prevent

migraines - it is a neccessity. The Lunesta is new - I was

on Ambien, and I functioned better w/ it - but it isn't

approved for longterm use so they switched me to Lunesta

3mg. I tried taking a half pill 2 nights ago and I did ok

and felt more energetic, but woke up so many times that it

made me hurt the next day. I have tried taking the

m.relaxer during the day instead of at night, and that just

makes me real tired all day long. Finding the right mix is

difficult. And if you have read my other post you see I am

having cognitive difficulties. Honestly, I always have had

some to some degree but it has been abnormally bad lately

and I just don't know if it is some of these meds or ADD or

severe fibro fog or what. It scares me sometimes how

scatterbrained I am and how hard it is to focus to think.

Last month was our last month to try for baby before I go

back to work. I got my period yesterday, so I am not

pregnant. My mom is pushing for us to get Wade's sperm

tested so I thought I would ask everyone about how to go

about that. The plan is right now to try for a baby again

after this summer is over and I have been back at work for

3 months. But anyhow, when I tried to go down on my dosage

for the Lyrica, the cyst/pelvic pain flared up again

horrifically, so , the past 3 weeks since ovulation week

have been very painful and that concerns me that I might

have endometriosis. Going back up on the dosage of Lyrica

has helped. If the pelvic pain gives me any more trouble I

will go back to the gynecologist. The past 2-3 months have

been so much better since going on the Lyrica; the pain

improved drastically. It was hardly noticeable til I

dropped the dosage. I am not sure what that means, and it

concerns me that the Lyrica is just covering up something.

There is still a cyst in there and it could still be

aggravated by my IBS. I cancelled my appt. with the

gastroenteroligist because I was doing so much better -

felt about cured!! and then I dropped the dosage on the

Lyrica and we are back to square one. I just don't know.

Maybe I need to make that appt. again w/ the gastrodr. I

would just hate to go and them say, ok, you are on the

Zelnorm, and that is really all we can do for the IBS, and

yes, your IBS can affect your cyst. Which, all of that I

already know, and then I would owe them a bunch of money

for nothing. ug :>( decisions, decisions. Anyhow!!! That

is the scoop I believe. :>))) I am so sorry I worried

anyone!!! I went for like 3 weeks walking around like a

zombie before I took action to switch my meds around . I

just kept thinking that I would adjust to the dosage of

Lyrica and feel better, but I didn't . So, I am still

working on that. I have purchased gingko biloba and B-12

sublingual vitamins for energy and clearer thinking. And I

am now looking into a anti-anxiety med supplement like 5-

HTP or GABA or kava. NOt sure which is best. My anxiety

has been rough lately. Probably stemming from being more

active since going on the Lyrica and going out more and

having more social contact etc. Have had trouble w/ anxiety

for years now. Was on Effexor for it, but won't go back on

that since it causes withdrawal syndrome when going off of

it. Anyhow! That's the scoop! I hope you are doing and

feeling well. Thanks so much for the post and if you have

any suggestions on ALL THIS, please post again. Love and

    big hugs, Carla
P.S. so sorry so long :>)

I will be contacting my gynecologist to see if I can get referred to a specialist close by. In some ways I feel it may be a little soon to do this testing. We have been trying since last October, but had to take a 2 month break in Feb. and March due to cyst pain. They say you should be trying for at least a year before you look into things like this. Well, this last month was the last time we will try before trying again in Sept. or Oct. of this year. I will be going back to work in July and I wouldn't want to get pregnant too soon before that because it may affect me being physically able to go back to work. So, we are going to have me go back to work and then in like 3 months after that, start trying again, so, if there is a problem on my husbands end of things, we would rather know now and get it dealt with and the same with me. I am hoping I don't have endo but I am concerned that I might. I have endo symptoms. But, I also have a cyst , possibly more growing, and IBS and it can mimic endo pains so, it is all so complicated for us, ya'll. Please pray for us as we try to deal with all this. We have alot of faith that we will be blessed with a child. When it is our time. There is a time for everything!!! Love ya'll, and thankyou, Carla
