why grind flax seeds????

    i know the benefits of flax seed for digestion, but why grind them???i sprinkle them on plain yogurt or my morning low carb cereal, but never heard of grinding them....

    whole flax seeds have a hard coat that we cannot digest. Eaten whole, they will pass through you undigested unless you happen to crunch a few with your teeth. They are 'roughage' that way, but you won't get much nutritional value from them. Ground flax seeds are an excellent source of omega 3 fatty acids and lignans, and other nutrients also.

    Grinding helps absorption. I grind lots of stuff to help me absorb it.

    thanks...i knewe that somewhere in the back of my brain...guess it helps with my constipation....i drink the liquiod omega3's....not to bad.....
