    Hi All:

I keep reading about how magnesium helps with constipation. I also have to keep my calcium levels up.

The blend of vitamins I bought is made by Jamieson and has 333 mg of calcium, 167 of elemental magnesium and 133 IU of vitamin D.

Will this work and how much would I need to take a day?

I just don't know. I took lots of magnesium and I still needed prunes. It's all about each individual's body. Experiment and see what you think - and prunes are fine too.

The mix you talk about is low in all three supplements. What is the dosage? Probably three a day? Depending on your age you should have 1,500 mgs of calcium (diet and supplements) a day and half that amount of magnesium. You can easily take up to 2,000 i.u. of D as long as you're levels are monitored by your doctor. In fact my chiro recommends 4,000 i.u. to his patients.

But your concern is constipation so I'd go with prunes and lots of other fiber. (FYI: I tried Benefiber and liked the product but it did nothing. Back to prunes - and apples. Apples are good too.)
