    Circle me, Lord.
    Keep protection near
    And danger afar.

    Circle me, Lord
    Keep hope within.
    Keep doubt without.

    Circle me, Lord.
    Keep light near
    And darkness afar.

    Circle me, Lord.
    Keep peace within.
    Keep evil out.

Creator hear us, for we are your children.

Father we thank you for all that you have given us.

We thank you for the lessons that you have taught us and
for the life that you have allowed us to lead.

We thank you Mother Earth for your beauty and sustenance.

We thank the masters of this universe
for their guidance, protection and direction.

Father we thank you for the white light that surrounds us, and for
that same white light which transmutes all negativity
    into love and healing.

We thank you father, for the healing of our souls,
the healing of the Earth and for the healing of all mankind.

We call upon the power of the universe, to
allow us happiness, prosperity, healing and love.

We call upon the power of the universe for
    good relationship to all things.

We call upon the power of the universe, for sacred direction,
sacred protection, sacred correction and sacred connection.

We call upon the power of the universe for magic and miracles.

We honor you Creator, as we honor all things seen and unseen.

We honor you Creator, as we honor our ancestors,
    as we honor ourselves.

    AHO

    Father, Mother, God,
    Thank you for your presence
during the hard and mean days.
For then we have you to lean upon.
    Thank you for your presence
during the bright and sunny days,
for then we can share that which we have
    with those who have less.
And thank you for your presence
during the Holy Days, for then we are able
to celebrate you and our families
    and our friends.
For those who have no voice,
    we ask you to speak.
    For those who feel unworthy,
we ask you to pour your love out
    in waterfalls of tenderness.
For those who live in pain,
we ask you to bathe them
in the river of your healing.
For those who are lonely, we ask
    you to keep them company.
    For those who are depressed,
we ask you to shower upon them
    the light of hope.
    Dear Creator, You, the borderless
sea of substance, we ask you to give to all the
world that which we need most—Peace.

    Metta Sutta
This is what should be done by one who is skilled in goodness
And who knows the path of peace:
Let them be able and upright, straightforward and gentle in speech,
Humble and not conceited, contented and easily satisfied.
Unburdened with duties and frugal in their ways.
Peaceful and calm, and wise and skilful,
not proud and demanding in nature.

Let them not do the slightest thing that the wise would later reprove.
    They should wish:

    In gladness and in safety
May all beings be at ease.
Whatever living beings there may be,
Whether they are weak or strong, omitting none,
The great or the mighty, medium, short or small,
    The seen and the unseen,
Those living near and far away,
    Those born and to-be-born,
May all beings be at ease!

Let none deceive another, or despise any being in any state,
Let none through anger or ill-will wish harm upon another.

Even as a mother protects with her life her child, her only child,
So with a boundless heart should one cherish all living beings,
Radiating kindness over the entire world,
Spreading upwards to the skies, and downwards to the depths,
Outwards and unbounded, freed from hatred and ill-will.

Whether standing or walking, seated or lying down,
Free from drowsiness, one should sustain this recollection.

Missing the translation that Rafiki first posted of this great teaching, where the phrase 'All sentient beings' was used.

This part captured my heart from my first hearing of it:

"Even as a mother protects with her life her child, her only child,
So with a boundless heart should one cherish all living beings,
Radiating kindness over the entire world,
Spreading upwards to the skies, and downwards to the depths,
Outwards and unbounded, freed from hatred and ill-will."

The St. Francis prayer has been very inspiring to me since you posted it last week. It gives me the feeling of purpose in life - as there is always some way of comforting, encouraging and consoling someone.

I know that a stranger's smile or look of kindness have given me a sense of belonging many times. Which can be a rare thing.

Fountain of Everlasting Peace and Healing Balm,
Wash over our wounds of war, violence, and hatred,
Scrub deep the stains that destroy the fabric of Your Existence,
Mend the tattered threads of the Cloak of Your Majesty,
The delicate web of the universe which is Your Life and Love...
A prophet of non-violence You have raised up for Truth,
Reflecting the Source of Your Unfathomable Wisdom,
Flowing from the One Great Abyss of Creation's Glory,
Open our minds to hear Your Voice speaking Peace this day,
Born from One Cosmic Egg, we are one family in You,
Help us to learn forgiveness, kindness, tolerance,
    Greatness of mind and heart,
So that destroying all weapons of war,
    Burying all animosities and differences,
We may hear the Divine Harmony of Your Love,
    Preserving our blue-jewel-earth-planet,
Spinning the dance of a Mother's Infinite Tenderness,
That draws all into Unity in one Compassionate Heart.
Bestow the Blissful Smile of sun and rain which is Your Divine Presence
Making Peace grow in our hearts as seeds for a new era,
    Birthing the song of non-violence
Which blesses our world with Peace
    Eternal.

    In Difficult Times

    Consoling God,
be a source of serenity for me
    when struggles and difficulties
    threaten to overwhelm me.

    God of hope,
assure me of your unconditional love
    when I doubt myself
or question the worth of my life.

    Truth-bringing God,
    encourage me to embrace you
during those times when I get lost
in the lies of my weakness.

    Compassionate God,
    hold me to your heart
    when I feel helpless
in the face of the world's pain

    Light-filled God,
keep me ever close to you
    during those moments
    when bleakness surrounds my life.

    Comforting God,
    shelter me under your wings
when I am engulfed in sadness
    and overcome with distress.

    God of peace,
you are the center of my life,
    a strong refuge of peace
in the whirlwind of my pain.
I look to you for strength
and a constant assurance of hope.

    Oh our Mother the Earth,
    oh our Father the Sky,
Your children are we, and with tired backs
We bring you the gifts that you love.

Then weave for us a garment of brightness.
    May the warp be the bright light of morning;
    May the fringes be the falling rain;
May the borders be the standing rainbow.

Thus weave for us a garment of brightness,
    that we may walk fittingly where birds sing;
That we may walk fittingly where grass is green.
Oh our Mother the Earth, oh our Father the Sky.
