We have issued a warning on the CFS/FMS board, but I don't get here often and was amazed at the people posting their e-mail addresses in a public forum.

We do not recommend posting e-mail addresses or putting them in profiles. There are some very nasty people out there who lurk on message boards collecting e-mail addresses. Our members have received some pretty unsavory e-mails, including some with viruses, after posting their e-mail addresses. It just isn't safe.

While we are on the subject, be sure you have a good firewall. Windows XP is the only operating system which has one built in. You also need antiviral software and you need to keep it updated. Don't open any e-mails unless you are sure who sent them. Even then, they may not be safe. Do not open attachments unless you know who sent the e-mail and what is in the attachment. There are a couple of viruses which are contained in the body of the e-mail and just opening them will infect your computer.

When the computer is shut off, pull the phone line or power cord or ethernet cord to your modem. Your computer can be hacked when they are shut off remotely.

    Practice safe computer use.

    Love, Mikie
