I am relatively new to site. Is anyone her from Sacramento? I was diagnosed with FM 3 years ago, but have had it probably all my life. I got lucky with being diagnosed. Was sitting in the exam room at the doctor's and as usual he was behind schedule. Starting going through all the pamphlets and such and they had several pages of info on FM. I about fainted when I read all the symptoms. When the doctor camen in I was almost in tears. I wasn't going insane lol!

Hi silly wabbit,

I will be in your neck of the woods tommorrow! I see Dr. Eric Hassid in Davis for my FM pain. He's a Neurologist/ Pain Management Dr. (Very nice & competent man/ physician)

It takes me 1 3/4 hours to drive over there. It's worth it.

Glad to hear you finally received the diagnosis. (NOT glad you have FM, but glad you now know what it is you have!) It is a starting point on the road to healing.

Blessings,

Anne

My parents happen to be visiting Sacramento today (5/26). They said they are taping a television news report this evening that is supposed to be about a "new" fibromyalgia treatment. Since I won't be able to see that tape until they return in August, hopefully someone there will watch and let us know what is said ...

Hi:

I live in Davis and am fortunate to see the same wonderful doctor as Annie B, Dr. Hassid. Just saw him yesterday for my Botox injections. They really help me tremendously. Hi Annie!

Hugs,

I'm SO happy for you that the Botox injections are helping. I have had it done 2 times now by Dr.Hassid...Unfortunately, my results have not been good. Both times I flared & then went back to status Quo. Bummer. I really had hoped for relief.

I saw Dr. Hassid today. What a wonderful Dr.! He & I are stumped, as I've tried SO many things over the years! He's ordering some blood work...to check for Adrenal fatigue/ hormonal depletion. He's not giving up; so I'm hanging in there! I'm sure I'm frustrating for him to treat, but he never makes me feel that way...I love the fact that he's up on holistic/ nutritional treatments. He's open to non-traditional treatments. I can't take meds because of my Gastritis & he spent quite a bit of time brainstorming with me about getting the GI problems cured. He's more knowledgeable than my GI specialist!

I got stuck in horrendous holiday traffic coming home! Ugh! It was awful in Vallejo & then on 101 from Petaluma up to home in Healdsburg. I cranked up the oldies tunes & tried to relax. I honestly don't know how people commute in heavy freeway traffic every day.

Good to hear from you again!

Take care.

P.S. Other than the injections; how else is Dr. Hassid treating you? Have you had success with anything else?

Anne

As we used to say, SACRAMENTO, Mayberry with a NBA Team!

When I was first diagnosed with CFS in 1987 I was in the process of moving to SACRAMENTO as I had just been transferred (federal govt).

The first 3 months of 1987 I spent bedridden with infectious mono at my future in-laws in Oroville (Butte County).

It wasn't until the end of 1990 before I was diagnosed again with CFS & was advised by the CFS Specialist in Carmichael to quit working & bring the stress in my life to non-existent if I wanted to have any hope of getting this DD in remission. My fiancee moved back home & I moved up to Placerville to be closer to my new job. I moved back to Sacramento in 1993 after this idiot made a left hand turn into me, totaling my car, sustained second whiplash injury resulting in Fibromyalgia diagnosis in 1996. (Post-Traumatic Fibromyalgia)

Had a FANTASTIC specialist in Roseville (Placer County) who I saw at least monthly from May 1996 to May 1999 for CFS. Moved to Oregon from Sacramento in Nov. 1998.

dancingnut is originally from Portland, but lives in Sacramento.

you guys need to fill out your bios!

I live about an hour from sacramento ....in napa, ca. I can't recommend any doctors, because it has always been a struggle for me to get fibromyalgia treatment. I usually end up in the ER. I am not too far from you, and just wanted to say Hi, and please let me know about any groups or doctors that help you you. Take care, Tammy

Hi Anne:

I'm sorry to hear that the Botox doesn't seem to be helping you. I just had my 3rd series. I've noticed that the muscle pain flares after the injections for a couple of weeks before it settles down. Then my muscle pain is much less and very manageable.

Yes, he is very knowledgeable about nutrition and supplementation. I also love that he doesn't give up easily. He told me on Wednesday, that they aren't finished with me yet! We are truly blessed to have him, aren't we?

Right now we are working on getting my B12 to absorb at the cellular level. I've been fighting awful fatigue for a long time and it could be the B12 issue. Also he is trying to get my insurance to cover Provigil, which is supposed to help excessive daytime sleepiness. I can fall asleep any time, any place. He gave me some samples which seem to work okay. I'm just worried that, like many things that seem to help initially, it won't work after awhile. I've been praying that the Lord will lead us to the right treatment.

I take lots of supplements which I think are helping in general. Are you taking the Co-Q10 that he recommends?

Let me know what your recent bloodwork shows. Hope you are enjoying this beautiful weather!

Hugs,
Liz

Born and raised there. Lived there until 1988 when I moved to Toledo, OH because my boyfriend is from here and I was pregnant with our son who is now 16 years old. It's a lot different than Sacramento. I wish we had some really good doctors here, but we don't have very many. I miss the weather out there. My sister, nephew, and niece still live out there.

HEY HANGTOWN!
Used to live & work in Placerville. In fact my last wildland fire that I worked on was in Placerville in Oct. 1992. I was stationed in Camino & last lived in the town of Eldorado before moving back to Sacramento & on to Oregon.

Between 1987 to 1998 I saw alot of doctors in Sacramento & surrounding areas re: CFS & FM. There are only 2 I will recommnend from my own experiences as a former patient.

The BEST (knowledge, & actually cares about his patients & this DD) my treating physician from 1996 to 1999:

DR. FREDERICK HERMAN - Allergy & Immunology Specialist
(CFS Specialist)in Roseville (Placer County) CA
He is in private practice & is not real fond of HMO's.

DR. ELIZABETH KAILATH - INTERNIST & INFECTIOUS DISEASES
(CFS Specialist). Used to be based in CARMICHAEL, but I believe she moved her office to FAIR OAKS.

It's nice meeting every1. Thank you for the info on the doctors in the area. Sadly to say we have Kaiser as our health insurance, but my hubby's work might be changing insurance companies and I am crossing my fingers that these doctors are on the list. I have also found out that they are doing a clinical study for Milnacipran here in Sacramento. I have an appointment tomorrow at 9:30 for a physical and blood tests to see if I qualify. From all that I have read on it, it seems quite promising. With my luck I will get the placebo LOL.

Dr. Hassid is now with Sutter Healthcare in Sacramento. I was diagnosed with chronic fatigue syndrome 11 years ago and I have never received help from any doctor until I saw Dr. Hassid. Right away he took me seriously and knew exactly what was going on. He ordered the appropriate tests which no doctor has ever done, he treated me with respect and he put me on a regime of supplements that is helping me.
