Say, that Dick Berry is pretty funny. He should think about writing a column or somethin'.
Ha Ha! I've been a DB fan for many decades. In my not so humble opinion, he is
America's greatest and most prolific humorist. Used to correspond with him. He told me I
had a "cool name". (I believe at the time I was using "Robert Redford".)
Dave is 7 years younger than I, but looks much younger. Some experts believe it improves
your looks if you are actually are younger; also more successful and a multi millionaire. But
what do they know? Anyhoo, thanks for the great post.
I found a Dave Barry column I don't remember reading previously.
Hard to tell. He's written several Mr. Language columns. Each one
is funnier than the rest. Kinda like them athleets what is always giving
Dave is versatile. He writes columns, humorous books, fiction and children's books.
His friend and former coworker at the Miami Herald Carl Hiaasen also writes columns,
comic novels set in Florida and children's books. You can tell Carl has Scandinavian
ancestry by the double "a" in his name.
Hi Jkennedy, whey you were a kid and down in the dumps did you Mom say, "Now
don't be a blue jay?"
I have thought Dave's turning 40 and 50 books were his best for a long time. They
are part autobiography and part history of our country and part humor. I read some
years ago that he would not be writing about turning 60 since that was not a funny subject.
I suspect if Dave wrote a grocery list it would be funny.
Here is the address for a couple Dave Bary's from two decades ago. They are about
flora and fauna and Christmas. I feel sure you'll find them a real hoot. I suppose I read
them when they came out, but don't really remember.
I have been reading Dave Barry for as long as he's been a syndicated columnist. Just came
across an old column I had never seen before. It's from a decade ago. I'm sure it will be
very helpful should any of us travel to Japan.
