Horrible headaches and pain when I get sick.

ProHealth CBD Store

Hello from Northern California. I've been dealing with chronic pain from Fibromyalgia, Arthritis, cervical stenosis, and lower back pain for many years. Within the past few years I've been experiencing horrific pain when I get a bug that's going around. I am a substitute teacher so I am under direct line of fire. I know when I am getting sick because my neck stiffens. Then, I can't sleep for about 4 nights, I can't urinate unless I put a hot pad on my abdomen, and I am in excruciating pain. Lately, I've been getting big fever blisters on my lips. This past sickness was so bad that I've been crying on and off for days because I'm so afraid for the next bout.
Any ideas as to why this is happening to me?

Hi Paula,

Welcome to ProHealth! I'm glad you found us, but I'm sorry to hear you are going through that.

There can be many factors that contribute to chronic health problems such as yours.
Some of them are undiagnosed chronic infections (that can be a biggie) , poor gut health such as leaky gut and imbalance in gut bacteria, poor detoxing, nutrient depletions, toxins from the environment, foods and products we use, food sensitivities, heavy metals, etc.

It has been my experience that finding those root causes and addressing them is key to getting better.

Integrative Medicine Doctors, Functional Medicine Doctors and Naturopathic Doctors can help you find and address those root causes. Conventional medicine tends to just prescribe drugs to cover up symptoms without finding the causes.

Since fibromyalgia is really just a new name given to a set of symptoms, it is important to find the root causes.

For me, it was tick-borne infections which lead to a domino effect of other problems such as leaky gut, adrenal fatigue, etc.

Hidden infections such as Lyme disease (Borrelia burgdorferi) (neck pain is common), other borrelia species, bartonella, mycoplasma, viruses and many others are possibilities.

You could ask around your community for a good Integrative Medicine Dr, Functional Medicine Dr or Naturopathic Dr.
Sometimes one has to travel a bit to find one.

Here are a few sites you can search:
