sun, i can download onto the computer with no problem but i like to read in bed and the kindle was perfect. rock has given up the kindle since we are getting books from the library now. only problem is that it's taking a long time for them to get here. i suggested putting 30 books on hold which should keep him in clover but of course they could all arrive at the same time. i'll check my library source and see what they can tell me.

thanks for your help,

gordon

Good Friday Morning, Kids,

Woke up about 2:30 this morning after I felt something heavy plop on my stomach except that it was a dream. I woke up screaming but don't know whether I was actually screaming or dreampt that too. My head was sooo stuffed up so got up and took an allergy tablet. SV was loving it because he got a treat. Then we both went back to bed and I slept well.

Sun, those big boxes of litter are good economically but really heavy to lift. I also get those huge packages of TP and paper towels. I still have the last ones I bought in the back of the car. I will go down and bring them up today. Hope you and DGD have a good visit. Loved all the geese. That's a log of goose poop. Yikes!

Judy, thanks for the heads up on the book. I haven't delved into QP is a long time so would really enjoy it. I also love the two old programs from PBS featuring music of the 50's and early 60's, Magic Moments and Moments to Remember. I was a kid then. Once I got married and had my own kids, I kinda lost out on the rock era. I liked a lot of the music then but didn't really follow any artists or groups. I now love the music from the 80's that my own kids grew up with. There are so many artists and groups I love to listen to but one who always makes me feel good is Jimmy Buffet. I have some of his CD's but now Alexa will play him if I ask.

Gordon, there are many tablets and e-readers but the Kindle is everywhere so I'm surprised that you can't download books from the library. Perhaps someone can help you. Our library has printed directions. Good luck.

I'm outta here. Hope y'all have a good day.

Love, Mikie

What a day. Doorbell rang and it was Teresa and our landscaper. He said we have a water leak outside and that I should call the plumber. The plumbers just left. They are great guys. They had to drain the swamp, so to speak, so they could dig up the water line leading to two condos where no one is home right now. It upset me so badly that my heart is again racing. I wasn't angry, just stressed. I'll have to give it a day to see whether it goes back down. If not, I'll be calling the doc on Monday.

One of the neighbor's outside lantern has always been dim but one of the other neighbors said she thought it was worse. I can't get the bulb out; I think the socket has come undone inside. I called our electrician and he will try to stop on his way home. I have a new fixture if the old one is too broken to fix. Everything happens in one day.

I checked the two units downstairs and there is no water intrusion inside. I let everyone know in here to let their cold water run before flushing their toilets to keep any dirt in the line from clogging the toilet mechanism. My It's A 10 arrived just in time to shampoo my hair tomorrow because it's a frizzy mess. I've been out in the heat and humidity with a breeze blowing. Not a pretty sight!

Happy Good Almost Evening to you all !! Haven't done much really today except working outside for awhile this morning. It was not very hot out. Getting a little cooler in the morning l A did a fast read through so don't expect me to remember what everydobby said. I even went back to try and find the story you all were writing. However, now I can't find it. Maybe I need to go back to the area where it gives all the new posts. dH is doing pretty well from his RX yesterday. A little more achy maybe but that is all and a bit tired but he is 82 years old. We were out there doing outside work this morning.. So much to do on our property.

SUN - DH is not that great with computer either but I do most of the emailing and stuff and when things go wrong I try and figure out, . If I cannot figure it out I ask DSIL and if he has no idea then I go ask DSIL. If not then the geek squad. DS knows w everything but he is not that close he can just pop over to fix stuff. DH works on his stocks and stuff and occasionally to read something interesting. Yes, you were very lucky to get free tickets to go see famous groups and such. We weren't that lucky in that regard.

ROCK and GORDON - Good grief, where are all those ants coming from. Now what do you do.?? Have you contacted any specialists in getting rid of those things?? I had some problems with ants but I put out those ant traps and they disappeared around the kitchen and in the pantry. Hope you get rid of them soon. I know the exterminators can be expensive. We had some some time ago but DH does his own spraying, mostly outside and around the foundation.

JUDY - Thanks for your answer on the ear phones. I will check them out. I hardly use what I have as they are awful and keep falling out of my ears and breaking. Hope you are feeling OK . I'm hanging in there I guess between my pains and urinary problems. You know all about that, I know !! If it isn't one thing it is another ! Whine, Whine, Whine, as MIKIE would say.

MIKIE - You've been a busy beaver in your place clean, chucking out stuff getting ready to wash slip covers. I don't have slip covers but no itty so not to much of a problem !! I still have lots to do in getting ready to throw stuff out or to finding it all a home. I have lots in the closet I probably will not wear much but hate to get rid of it in case I need it and have to replace. That's like my mom. I do not think she threw anything away. MY DH on the other hand is the opposite. He's a great cleaner outer. HOPE the GULF coast isn't going to hit us and some of this area with a bunch of rain. . Not sue if it will be a hurricane and it should move slowly which is not good. It tis around Mexico I think. DH was talking about it. I haven't heard anything about it today. You can take a deep breath it shouldn't be anywhere near you.

Hi's and HUGZ to all our MIA's- BARRY, SPRING, JULIE, WINDBLADE, et al and those I may have forgotten !

Love,
Granni :) Hope you all have a wonderful and restful weekend !!

Hi, Kids,

Coming to you from my iPad. I so seldom use it to post. I’m sitting up in bed because the reception on the antenna in the living room is lousy. Not much to tell so thought I would check in to see who had stopped in. Ooh, ooh just figured out how to highlight and set the font. I really should learn how to use the iPad. Wish I had bought the one that makes cell phone calls. I can’t see to text on my phone.

Sun, hope you feel better. I know how much you enjoy your DGD. Hope you both have fun.

Granni, glad DH did well again with his treatment. That storm is called Beta. They have run out of names and are going to the Greek alphabet. Looks as though it will just spin around and fling rain. I had planned to wash the slipcover today but it didn’t turn out like that. I’m just glad we got the leak fixed. Electrician didn’t come but he will show up when he can. He’s a good guy. Stay dry if Alpha comes your way.

I am gonna go. Hope everyone has a great evening.

Love, Mikie

Hi All,

It was an interesting day today. While Gray and I were getting ready to go to my Dr. appt we got a call from his Dr, Gray was in the shower so the Dr. called back in 5 min. I thought I made his phone appt for next Friday but apparently it was for today. Kaiser doesn't want him to come in right now because of his age so his physical appt was done over the phone and we will go to the lab for some fasting blood tests in a week or so. So we drive to Wildomar which on the Kaiser website says in the only site that has drive thru flu shots and we got jabbed. It didn't even hurt this year. Last year it burned when the nurse was pushing the plunger in very slowly. I didn't hardly feel it this year. Then we went on to Temecula for my Dr. appt and it turns out they were doing drive thru flu shots there too. It would have been nice if they had said that online. I thought oh well, at least we are done with that for this year. I stood in line in104 degree heat for 15-20 minutes to get my temp. checked and answer the usual questions, "do you have a sore throat, temp, loss of smell," etc. Turns out my temp. was up from standing out in the heat so long so I had to stand in front of a portable air conditioner for 5 minutes to bring my temp down. After all that I had to wait 5 more minutes outside before being allowed to go in and register for the appt. My appt isn't until next Friday. So we will have to go back and do it all again next week.

It was still a good day. We got our shots. I deposited Moms stimulus check that I have had for about a month and I went to Trader's Joe. They don't have one here in town and I really miss it. I went in for 4 items and came out with 5 bags full.

While I was at Moms bank depositing her check I found 4 checks in my purse that I had forgotten about so I was able to deposit them in my acct at my bank on the way home.

I am really tired now as I haven't slept real well for a few days but at least the pain in my legs is so much better today after having cool compresses on them while riding around in the car. I had done a 10 min. walk around the house and I guess that is too much for me. As soon as my legs feel better I will try a 5 min walk and work up from there. It was probably the marching. I made a few laps around the house marching. Mom is having trouble lifting her legs high enough to get in our Highlander so I thought maybe I would work out a little now so that doesn't happen to me. I guess I will have to take it slower. Maybe 4 minutes walking and 30 seconds marching to start.

Mikie- how did you select on your ipad. Even with directions online I couldn't figure it out. Are you able to get the font big enough to read ProHealth forums on your tablet? I can't get it big enough to read and not have to scroll from side to side.

Smoke here is not bad at all today. It is blowing north, however a new fire started near Palm Springs. It is small now at 2500 acres but if the wind changed and got very gusty or the Santa Annas start up with the winds coming from the North east, it could go up over the mountain and come very close to us. That is one fire I will watch very closely. I think it is called the Snow fire.

So sad to hear about RBG. I was shocked to hear that she had died. I felt devastated, horrified, about what could happen now. She was my favorite Justice.

Hugs to everyone.
Love

Good Morning, Kids,

My heart rate has been high but under 100 since yesterday. Learning of Justice Ginsberg's death didn't help. It's not like our country doesn't have enough to deal with right now. I'm praying and hoping to find some peace. She was an amazing person who stood for equal justice for men and women. People see her as a feminist, which she was, but she also championed issues for men. The FJ category was just announced when there was a news break about her. We were stunned. Even though I knew her health has been so bad, it's always a shock when someone passes.

Willow, sounds as though your day was one of confusion and changing plans. I'm glad it all worked out okay. We have to be flexible but I think we all are because we have to cope with so much. Our plans don't always work out. Yesterday certainly didn't work out for me. I still have to have the electrician out because evidently, he wasn't able to stop on his way home. He's a good guy and will get here eventually. It's not an emergency like the water leak was. Good grief! When it rains, it really does pour. When I went to the dentist, my temp was very low because I had been in the car with the A/C on. I also need to move more. Our pool has been fixed and I should go over and walk in the water. I had a client who had gained weight and it was hard on her knee joints. She stopped moving and eventually couldn't move. I think about her often as I have slowed down. Moving would likely help my heart rate too. I found the select/highlight kind of by accident on the iPad. I just touched the screen on a word and a little box opened up with "Select/Select All" in it. I tapped Select All and everything was highlighted in blue. Then, I selected size 22 from the drop-down menu at the strip at the top of my post. I think Apple products are easier to use generally speaking but it one didn't learn on them, they are more difficult. Glad the smoke is better for you.

Rock, haven't seen you on the Porch in quite a while. We worry and miss you when you are MIA. Hope you will drop in and favor us with your wit and humor.

I woke in the middle of the night and had to read for quite a while to get back to sleep. I finally did and got enough total sleep but it was interrupted so I may feel tired today. I just hope my heart rate will go down. I plan to do some exercise to get my HR up because that is usually helpful.

I hope all y'all have a good start to the weekend.

Love, Mikie

Just got back from the pool. It felt sooo good to just walk in the cool morning air, scented with the blooms on the hedge; I don't know whether it's jasmine or honey suckle. The sky is clear blue. There were jays and a woodpecker out. I really needed to move and to have nature help me to destress.

The auto section in our paper showed decks of cards with classic cars on them. I ordered a deck from Amazon for my DSIL who loves classic cars. He has two of them--a classic Lincoln and a boat-tail Riviera. He takes them to car shows. I also subscribe to Road & Track for him. He's a sweetie.

Willow: sorry you had a stressful day getting the flu shots. Well, at least you’ve gone that done. And about your mom, very very important to keep moving all the joints and body parts otherwise we end up in worse shape than before. I NEED to stretch every morning without fail otherwise I’m in terrible pain. Woke this morning with awful pain in my sciatic nerve or whatever so stumbled to the kitchen at 6 a.m. to stretch. I can do a lot of the stretches just by sitting in my kitchen chair, so get your mom to do that and you also.

Mikie: Good for you, going to the pool first thing in the morning. Try hard to establish a routine. I like what you two have written on our new story. It can take us anywhere we want it to. I wasn’t that familiar with RBG but I see giant fighting that will start over who to put in her place. Uh oh......am I sensing a carpenter hunk in the picture in our story? Do you think Annabelle is married, divorced or what?

Shelby and I had a great, busy time yesterday, but by 9:30 when we finished up with the first Harry Potter movie we were both ready for sleep. We made homemade pasta along with Chicken Parmesan. We’re working our way thru bottled spaghetti sauce.....yesterday we tried Lidia’s Marinara....how do you spell ehh? That was our reaction....needed some zip. So cross that one off our list. Then Shelby always makes chocolate super rich brownies from a mix.....with chocolate sauce over it! After all that super sweet rich I was surprised I slept about 8 hrs. She gets her braces on the 30th so today she’s going to make a 7 layer bar that has everything in it, along with gooey melted stuff. Think I’ll pass on eating that one. She told me there are things she can’t have for 1 1/2 years while wearing them, so this is her last hurrah!

Clair loves when Shelby comes over since she gets a lot of attention....until she becomes a royal pain!

Hi, Sun,

Yes, it was great to go over to the pool. I took a little bit of ibuprophen when I got back because my hip was letting me know it was time to go. Fortunately, Barb and I usually want to leave at about the same time, when we are pruning up. Sorry your sciatic nerve is acting up. So far, so good with mine. It often acts up when I walk. I've been working on my posture. It really makes a difference. I think I'll keep activities light today so I don't overdo it.

Shelby's a girl after my own heart with the rich chocolate treats. I love brownies. I think chewy, gooey and sticky things aren't allowed with braces. Of course, those are the things we want to eat. I've watched that show on PBS with Lidia and have never been tempted to make anything she cooks. I will buy most any marinara or spaghetti sauce because I brown Italian sausage in the fry pan and add the sauce to simmer. That makes any sauce taste good. I cook Publix scallops in garlic butter in the fry pan and then add the Alfredo sauce to it. Quick and yummy Italian pasta meals.

Glad you like this story better. The last one was fun but it's good to have something different. I decided to finish the one about H.G. Wells before going on to the potato pie book. It's downloaded to the Kindle and waiting for me. I'm gonna go online to see whether I can renew my library card without having to actually go to the library. This stupid virus has spoiled so many things for us.

I just checked the gift card Dennis and Grace left for me. It's for $50 but the two seafood restaurants are expensive. The Steak House in the group is very reasonable but it's way over in the Cape. I don't know whether they have outside dining or not.

Hope you girls continue to enjoy the weekend.

Love, Mikie

Hi, Kids,

Judy, we were posting at the same time.

Barry, you are needed on the new story to add some color to it.

Everyone, I started a separate thread about Patti. Her sister notified me that she has been called in to hospice to be with Patti now until the end. Please pray for her - I know she will be going home! And out of all suffering forever! Living in complete beauty, truth and goodness. Like everything that we have loved here, but complete. The separation is so hard though.

Judy, I've been praying for her and her sister. I will now be praying that loved ones come to peacefully and joyfully take her Home. Passing is only sad for those of us left behind. Thanks for letting us know.

Mikie, I'm so glad that you shared that beautiful story about your Mom and what she saw... the expression on her face. I've heard many hospice stories like that, that nurses have shared. Patti went to heaven at 12:06pm. I just found out. Wrote on the other thread, and a message from her dear son, Joey.
